Playstation Spider-Man (PS4) - Part 3

Cant be sooner than fall 2022

I think that is at worst. The first game took about 4 years and now they have the fodantion layed out a sequle should be faster. 3-3.5 years i dont think is to fast and insomanic in the past has been pretty fast with coming out with games. Fall 2022 would be around 4 years. I see late 2021 maybe early 2022 but no later then that. I could maybe even see middle 2021.

I finally started playing this, and it still reminds me of the Beenox engine for their film tie-ins too much, but certainly with much better execution than the Amazing Spider-Man 2 when it comes to Jonah's news and street crimes, the web rush replaced with the more desired parkour, and a much better personality for Spidey himself.

So the better execution reminds me that Beenox did have some fine ideas in the gameplay area, and I feel bad for them being trapped under the umbrella of Activision.

So far I think the game is nicely good, but in wall running and wall crawling Treyarch are the only studio to nail these mechanics, every other studio struggles with making it as best as possible. I'm crawling by the side of the wall, and I have to admit that even Traveler's Tales handled the wall crawling on a bumpy surface in 2 out of their three games based on Marvel properties better than Insomniac did.

700 perfect dodges remain for me to complete the benchmarks 100%.
I understand it is not important to complete those even if you are a trophy hunter, but I feel the strange urge to grind to fill these bars all the way. I chose to slow down completing the story to complete these first, and I've only completed a small amount of side missions in the duration.

I finished New Game+ on Ultimate difficulty, and this whole game feels as difficult as a LEGO game compared to most other games. Personally, I don't mind this less stressful way.

And this game has an unlimited supply of New Game+, :awesome
I love this decision so much I hope they repeat it for future sequels without making it DLC.

Finally finished the Silver Lining dlc, and that one is a pain to play through for fighting missions. It didn't take me too long to complete it 100% though, thank God for that.

Playing a second New Game+ with the animated Miles movie suit for the opening mission is worth it.

J. Jonah Jameson repeated blaming Spider-Man for the breakout in the Raft, I wonder what his voice will be like if he knew it was more his fault since the poison that stopped Spider-Man from winning and containing the chaos was injected by Scorpion's tail, and Jonah admitted being responsible for Gargan having his powers before the first Shocker battle.

Yeah. It's a missed opportunity just having JJJ as a Joe Rogan/Alex Jones-esque podcaster. He's only really comic relief when his character has more potential, like his connection to Mac Gargan. I think he should have appeared in-game at some point much like Aunt May, Mary Jane and Mr. Negative do outside of missions to push story.

It cannot be said enough...no more Screwball. EVER.

Here's hoping he appears in the sequel.
The character's constant criticism of Spidey made me joke about him with my brother

She's not my biggest gripe. I hate her irksome delivery of lines, but she's nothing compared to fat thugs with machine guns, thugs with shields and jetpacks, and especially final boss surrounded by an army of henchmen which is one of the most annoying things to do in a boss fight,:argh: I wish developers would stop doing that.

One of the best games to handle the induction of minions into a boss fight is Treyarch's Spider-Man 3, if you knew the order of upgrades unlocked and made the active decision to unlock the Widowmaker before entering the last Lizard mission you can use that move to speed charge the rage meter to use it against Kraven in the second battle to make it easier, and only three lizard men at a time.

I just love that a Spider-man game has a move called "the widow maker". I don't care if a Spider-man game has a serious story, as long as it's fun to play (not that SM3 is so great but that's besides the point)

Also I prefer Tobey's quips in the games. They're cheesy, dry and perfection. Ps4 Spidey is too try-hard with humor, in my opinion

Tobey also delivered those lines with the same enthusiasm as a high school kid giving a PowerPoint presentation about paint drying. He did a good job in the movies but he definitely phoned it in when it came time to record dialogue for the games. In fairness, most of the voice acting in those games was pretty subpar save for Willem Dafoe in the first, JK Simmons in the third and of course, Bruce Campbell's narration in all three of them.

I don't get the name, it's still a mystery. But whatever.

The one joke that felt try hard to me is when he talks to Shocker about talking too much.

Although he phoned it in all of them, Tobey did get progressively better in delivering his lines with each entry. The first is the most distracting performance of his.

You're not wrong, but that's sort of the reason I love his dialogue. Also I'm not sure if he actually phoned it in. It could be that he is just a bad voice actor regardless. Sometimes good live-action actors are.

Hopefully! I'm holding off on a PS5 until the sequel comes out

I will not get a PS5 until part 2 comes out. I barely play anything that my kids cannot, so I only get things I can justify...and hopefully, by then it'll be more affordable (?), or there will at least be a sick variant with the black costume or something.

I wonder if Wraith would be a villain in the next game? Since Mr. Negative was highly promoted in the first game, they would probably use a lesser known villain for a lot of promo stuff.

Then the Klassic villains, I want to see the Lizard, Mysterio and Sandman.

This last guy will be very cranky once he gets out.

I want the Lizard and it has to be scary. Also, bosses should be challenging this time
This is a character that deserves a good amount of time dedicated to him. This is one of the things I appreciate about Spider-Man 3 on the PS2.

The Arkham trilogy utilized the bosses much better. With this game, you are 2/3 of the main story and the villains you got to fight at that point are Mr. Negative, Kingpin and Shocker. And I got tired of fighting randomgoons again and again. While 4/6 of the Sinister 6 didn't have an actual build up. Also In Arkham Knight, a lot of the side quests featured a boss fight in the end. I haven't played the dlcs, but Spider-Man only had Taskmaster and you don't even get to defeat him as he runs away.

Meh...I'll give you the other Arkham games, but Arkham Knight left me cold. The story and quest's dependency on the Batmobile, and the fact you had to complete EVERYTHING to get the "real ending" just made me quit caring. I still never completed it. As soon as I started having to use detective mode with the Batmobile, I lost interest. In Spider-Man, the traversal across the city never stopped being fun. I liked the Arkham Knight story for the most part, and the boss battles were pretty cool (except the Jason v batman car fight and the Deathstroke car fight), but I'd rather have some more emotionally resonate battle like the ones in Spidey.

Now, if we're comparing the first three Arkham games and Spidey, that's different. Those were all great. Yes, I even liked Origins...just because I liked watching Bruce truly become Batman, and watching his interaction with Alfred as he has to accept this is who Bruce is...good stuff!

EDIT: Also, not trying to disagree for the sake or disagreeing with you! I like all these. Arkham Knight is the only one that left me underwhelmed.

I played all the Batman Arkham games and the Spider-Man game. They both had things that were repetitive. I did like racing around in the Batmobile in Arkham Knight though and incorporating them in boss battles. I remember in Arkham Asylum being annoyed with the final Joker battle because if felt like a rehash of the giant goon battle.
