The Amazing Spider-Man Spider-Man Reboot Costume Part 4 - "What's that in his eye??" edition

Nothing wrong with correcting dude. It just doesn't make any sense. I don't feel like I'm on a high horse when I do. I actually want to help them say it right because how could you care about something less than what you already don't care about?

But this isn't the place for a debate of this.

Can you imagine all the crazy speculation that would ignite? People losing their minds, ranting on about how we're getting the clone saga and other bull crap suggestions. I like Reily's spidey costume but this place would be a nut house more so than usual had we got it.

Look....it doesn't matter what costume Spidey wears, he's still gonna be Spidey, costume changes don't change the characters completely. He still looks recognizable to me

I agree, but Hollywood looked at it like Superheroes + Realism = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. They can't keep "The Dark Knight" out of their mouths during board meetings. They're basically using it as the framework for every superhero, Plastic Man grounded in realism "how would the world react to a man who has plastic properties? Why does he stretch? is it emotional when he does this?"
LMFAO:lmao::lmao:
this is sad but so true and funny at the same time

"Recognizable" does not mean "good", as your ungracious example has made perfectly clear.

And, for the movie, "recognizable" is far from enough.

What if Spider-Man changes or upgrades his costume during the movie series like Batman. If that happens I want this costume for 2nd movie
spider-new-costume.jpg

Spider-man should not be upgrading his costume like Batman.

I'm really getting tired of Nolan's vision seeping it's way into every discussion. It doesn't have to be applied to every damn superhero now.

Nothing against you Galactus.

What does the idea of updating a costume for a sequel, something that almost every superhero movie sequel does, have to do with 'Nolan's Vision'?

He's obviously referring to a discussion that has been going on for the last few pages - one that you yourself have been a part of. As well as the TDK discussion thats been hijacking the news thread.

For me, I think most others here, its not that they changed the costume up that is the problem. Its that the changes that were made are ugly.

This...and really that's all there is to it. It's ugly!

I find it hard to believe that someone designed that thinking:

"wow, my design is so awesome--it looks stunning--it blows Raimi's costume away!"

Come on! Let's keep it real....that **** is ugly. I hope to god the reason its so fugly is not because Nolan's vision has seeped into Marc Webb's idea's for this film.

Can you honestly tell me, they couldn't design a suit much more pleasing to the eye than this one?!!?

Then people wonder and ***** and moan about the fanboys complaining...this is the reason why! Was such a costume necessary? These are supposed to be the so-called professionals who know what they are doing and can make the right decisions for these types of films--BUT WHEN THEY DO THIS....WHAT ARE THE FANS SUPPOSED TO THINK?!

It's ugly! No one had the balls to stand up and say, "gee I don't know guys, is this the best we could really do? This is Spider-man we're talking about."

When you see stuff like this, you can't help but begin to question what other creative missteps have been made.

admittedly, it does make me worry about the lizard, somewhat.

I'm more worried about the Lizard than Spidey's silver shoes or whatever the issue was......

well, i think there's a lot of room and flexibility for improvement/creative interpretations for the Lizard than there is for Spider-Man. As someone who works in this field, I can pretty much guarantee that more work went into the design of the lizard than the design of the new suit and that they're still not 100% finished with his design yet.

But that still doesn't guarantee that we'll like what we get.

It just makes me question the whole direction or vibe the movie is going for. Is this a "realistic" take on Spider-man? Thus the sneakers and somewhat disjointed costume design--to make it look cobbled together of sorts?

We already know it's a vague prequel-reboot of sorts, so the automatic question becomes: What are they going to change? How much are they going to change and will I like the changes?

Like most, I didn't anticipate any kind of huge change to the costume because I thought it simply wasn't warranted and this is Spider-man after all. You don't over tinker with the costume. But man...it just grates on me....the creative decisions with these films.....it's just mind boggling at times how so few can get it right and the rest.........are their egos so dense that they can't see the faults in their decisions?

I know I may be oversimplifying to some degree, but come on, Raimi had to take into account the studio looking over his shoulder, budget concerns and high expectations as well--so did Favreau. They got it right.

Do we have to do this dance everytime a comicbook movie is announced? Just when we think we can trust studios with these characters, they pull some **** like this damn costume.

Then they get pissy when the fans complain--as if their doing a great job and the costume is awesome.

You must have been reading my mind, because that's exactly what I was thinking. The Lizard can be interpreted many different ways artistically.

Spider-man, not so much. You can only go so far with Spider-man before it starts to just look wrong or over designed. Same with Superman and Batman.

i certainly dont find this ugly
Spider-Man-reboot-costume.jpg
I don't think the suit as a whole is ugly (I love the colors and textures for instance); but I do think the major changes (ie: the gloves from forearm down; the boots, no belt, speed lines on his legs; i actually don't even like the webshooter designs) ARE ugly.

That's just my opinion, though.

The web-shooter is practical. It is not like the silver gauntlets from the comics would be believable in a movie. Even what we have seen is not all that believable, considering the PSI necessary to shoot a liquid projectile over the distances to which Spider-Man is able. Though, I am curious as to see what design you would offer.

Also, Spider-Man has always had gloves that come from the forearm down.

I agree that the leg stripes are a bit iffy. I do feel that the belt adds a degree of symmetry to the suit...but your complaints about the web shooter and an element of the costume that is present even on the original, seem a bit misdirected.

Eh, it just looks too clunky, imo. Granted, I'm ecstatic that there ARE web shooters, and I don't hate the design they went with....I just would have liked something slightly more streamlined and not a chewing tobacco container on his arm. Maybe a cross between what they went with and the Raimi shooters that never were.

Also, Spider-Man has always had gloves that come from the forearm down.

You miss understand me. I don't like how they separated the arm stripe (which, imo is waaay to thin) from the forearm, nor how the forearm section cas it's own stripes cut out of it.

Again, I simply don't like the webshooter design, and you miss understood what my issue was with the glove.

Will my issues with the suit kill the movie for me? No. But we're in the costume thread, so I might as well critique it :)

just saw the Lizard designs.....they put silver slippers on him too

I'm kinda iffy about the black stripes across the back, and the black part of his soles, just doesn't seem......Lizardy :o

Hey guys, I actually work for Sony pictures, and i've got some gossip for you. It turns out the silver shoes were just a red herring, used in the hope that all the obsessive alarmist fanboys out there would kill themselves. Not sure where Sony is going with this strategy, but they keep talking about "Revenge for SM 3" ?
