Because people like you and Godzilla won't understand the fact that the suit we have was a necessary departure from the source. Jesus Christ.

Imagine if football uniforms still looked like this:

Point being that things need to adapt and change in order to give itself an identity while staying relevant to the current times. No one is ****ing arguing that this suit looks better or looks more like Spider-Man than Acheson's suit dudes. It's fairly obvious what looks more like the original. What we are saying is that this suit was a necessary change and update. This the new suit. Get the **** over it so we can stop having these ******ed arguments that go absolutely ****ing nowhere. PM each other about how much it sucks if it matters that much to you both. A majority of users on here have accepted and embraced the new design and every time you guys come in and ***** about it, it just causes arguments. Enough is enough.

The thing is, we've seen that such deviations as are present here from the source material aren't necessary for Spider-Man to look awesome on screen. These changes have nothing at all to do with adapting Spider-Man for the big screen or updating him for the times. They have everything to do with being different from Acheson. That's it.

Oh my ****ing lord. Get it through your head.

WE ARE NOT SAYING THIS IS BETTER THAN THE CLASSIC DESIGN NOR ARE WE SAYING IT'S BETTER THAN ANY CONCEPT DESIGNS FROM SPIDER-MAN 1. WE ARE SAYING THAT AFOREMENTIONED DESIGNS ARE TOO SIMILAR TO RAIMI'S RENDERING THEM INHIBITING. THE NEW SUIT IS AN ACCOMPLISHMENT IN THE SENSE THAT IT MAINTAINS SPIDER-MAN'S IDENTITY WHILST GIVING IT A NEW IDENTITY THAT SEPARATES IT FROM THE ORIGINAL FILMS SIMULTANEOUSLY. IT IS NOT HARD TO UNDERSTAND

Holy caps, Batman.

Reading that hurt my eyes. A lot.

And all I'm saying is that when you just had this:

This:

Pales in comparison.

And I made my point without giant caps that hurt the reader's eyes or insulting people.

I'm sorry but I'm clearly not getting through to Zilla. Love the dude, but man he's frustrating.

Maybe it's just me, but I have time believing that you can't base a design on this:
ultimate-spider-man.jpg

Without it being confused with this:

I don't see why differentiating itself requires a web pattern that changes into lines for discernible reason or making Spider-Man look like he got lost from a race.

1) I never said I thought the costume was ugly in that post. (It kinda is, but that wasn't what I was saying there.)

2) It's not a necessary change. They didn't HAVE to change the suit. Nothing told them they had to. They FELT like they had to to help show that this is not the Raimi movies. I get that, but if you NEED to change the suit when there is a reboot...how come Batman is still wearing black rubber? Superman is the only suit I was allow being changed and that's because the movie was being made during the lawsuit and they weren't legally allowed to use the classic suit. THAT is the only necessary change. Spider-Man's suit should never change because aside from the spider symbols and eyes, it never has. That's the mark of a perfect suit.

You overestimate the intelligence of the GA. Ignorance is bliss. Sweet, sweet bliss.

Completely agreed.

Uhm...because they're exactly the same design to the GA. They can't differentiate between the 2 like we can.

Do the yellow eyes remind anyone else of the ****** Spider-Man Unlimited cartoon?

That's not true.

The lawsuit has zero baring on the studio using the classic Superman suit. None. If your familar with WB's history with the Superman franchise and past attempts, they've always wanted to redesign the classic suit.

They redesigned the iconic Superman suit for the same reason they redesigned Spider-Man's classic suit. To differentiate with what has come before. It's a simple as that.

Also, guess who designed the new Superman suit? James Acheson.

Not what I heard. The lawsuit with Siegal made it so that the classic suit could not be used in any medium. That's why the comics have a new suit, too. Unless you present me with proof, I'm sticking with my claim.

I knew that, actually. One of his failures. I think the new Superman suit is actually pretty terrible.

I miss the regular looking webs, but they did at least do a better job with the colors this time around.

Where did you hear that because it's false.

WB still owns 50% of the copyright until 2013. Theoretically, they can do anything they want. They needed to be in production by this year to prevent further litigation from the Siegel estate. That's the extent of the lawsuit.

What are the departures that are so big? Blue on the hands? Stripes on the legs? No belt in the front? They look good. It looks athletic and functional, and like a teenager would wear it. It also looks like it could hold up during stunt sequences.

Jesus christ! How is this a betrayal of the original design?

Spider-webs on the Spiderman suit would have been nice and not too much of staying too close to Raimi's suit. I mean, spider webs are like essential and then they went with random lines instead and I'm supposed to believe that's an "achievement" because it doesn't look like the previous suit. Like Nolan giving Batman rounded bat ears for the sake of changing it.

And I guess those sneakers are a better achievement since they don't look like anything Spiderman, let alone Raimi's spider-suit. And some nice tutu would have been phenomenal since it couldn't have ever been any more of a departure from Raimi's suit.

And yet, with all the variations the spider-eyes have had in comics, cartoons and whatnot, they kept the eyes so close to Raimi's suit I myself feel they're too similar for their own good.

Those are details that make no big harm but that in addition to not having spider webs, having silver sneakers and that nonsensical indentation on the back - which for me is what I cabnot just overlook - just make things worse.
