The Amazing Spider-Man Spider-Man Reboot Costume Part 4 - "What's that in his eye??" - Part 5

What is this suit supposed to represent though? Peter Parker's red and blue suit or Reilly's costume?

It has stuff that its borrowed from alternate suits in the comics, but it's still a movie interpretation of Spider-Man's classic suit.

It doesn't matter that this suit represents Peter's red and blue suit. The House Of M suit was Peter's red and blue suit in that universe. It's still a redesign.

I'm not saying that it doesn't look like Spider-Man, but it is a redesign.

I wouldn't be against a Spider-Man suit that's red and black for the next reboot, like the original design. I'd LOVE to see that.

I think that could work.

But a redesign insinuates that they've scrapped the classic design completely, which they have not done.

Agreed.

Thank you.

Verb

S: (v) redesign (design anew, make a new design for)

=P

I prefer interpretation, but you could call it a redesign of the classic suit.

According to my computer's dictionary:
redesign |ˌrēdiˈzīn|
verb [ trans. ]
design (something) again in a different way : the front seats have been redesigned.

It is every bit a redesign as the Ben Reilly or House Of M costumes were, regardless of whether or not it is this universe's "vanilla" Spider-Man costume.

And it's still an interpretation of the classic suit. :)

No, it isn't.

This is a reinterpretation:

So is this:

I'm not going to argue semantics with you.

It's their interpretation of Spider-Man's suit. As Batman's jigsaw suit in TDK and TDKR is Nolan's/whoever the **** designed the suit's interpretation of Batman's suit.

Is the House Of M suit an "interpretation" of Spider-Man's suit or is it a redesign? The same applies here.
The TDK Batsuit was designed by Lindy Hemming, by the way.

I wouldn't consider that a reinterpretation at all. It looks exactly like the classic suit. The only thing making it look different is Peter's build.

Where'd he go...? He got banned like...the second he posted that.

The SHH Gods were no happy.

I think the back spider is a bit different.

The legs are connected rather than separated.

I look at the differences this way:

Interpretation - Im going to make my version of spideys classic suit.
Redesign - I'm going to make an entirely different spidey suit.

Which one, in your opinion, is this suit?

Well, to be honest, I think the differences in the two terms, in their most basic definition, are practically interchangeable. Sure, they can become more distinct the further from the center you go, but for the sake of conversation, I think I'd probably list this suit under interpretation. Yeah, there are a few glaring differences, but all the basic bullet points are there.

I think regardless of the exact definitions, both sides are essentially saying the same thing....
Maybe. Haha I haven't been paying that close attention to the debate :woot:

Lol. Yeah, it's painfully obvious we need new info....
