Oh I loved the costumes from the previous films, I never had any problems with them.

Kirk's jacket is indeed pretty sweet. Are there any screencaps of Scotty's look? Video won't work for me. I love the previous uniforms, so I hope it's not too drastic a change...

I knew that they were going to. Given that they left on the Five Year Mission into deep space at the end of STID, and some of Simon Pegg's comments, I actually think that it's quite possible that we won't be seeing any humans outside of the Enterprise crew in this film. We may not even see many "familiar" alien species either.

I also expect Idris Elba to be playing an alien as well.

To me those look like excursion jackets like they had in The Cage. I couldn't see the rest of the uniforms only Kirk's but that was the first thing that came to mind.

I didn't know whether ILM was doing the VFX for this film, given the director change and that ILM has a lot of films on its plate already.

Yeah. Apparently Lin realized that it makes no sense to go to the surface of a potentially hostile planet only wearing casual pants and a long sleeve colored shirt. What Kirk and Chekov are wearing is the new away uniform.

Star Trek has always had excursion jackets...they sometimes forget they have them though

Oh I'm not just talking about the away-missions. Even on the ship, they come across as idiots repeatedly when it comes to how they get into trouble.

The ships definitely need surge protectors and breakers. Enemy fire shouldn't make the consoles and lights on the bridge shoot sparks. It's like electrical engineering reverted to late 19th century standards at some point between the 21st and 23rd century.

There's a lot Star Trek does that doesn't make sense. Like in combat situations why are the captain and executive officer both on the bridge?
In the navy when a ship goes into combat the XO is not on the bridge...in case the bridge is taken out the chain of command is preserved.

Yeah I like that Jacket on Kirk big time. Not really liking what seems to be the new ship shirt. Saw a picture of Spock in his blue shirt which had the same high collar and squared shoulders. Don't really like it compared to the ones from the last two and the original series. I really liked the v neck shape. When I think high collar and squared shoulders I think Next Generation and ST 2-6.
