Star Trek Beyond - Part 2

We all know Simon Pegg is your Tyler Durden.

Okay, I'm scared now. Pegg's "canon" explanation sounds dangerously similar to my "gay cosmic rays" theory a few pages back. :(

Ha!

I feel things would be so much simpler if they just left it at "We felt like it."

Is the problem with Pegg's explanation maybe that it sort of perpetuates the idea that someone's environment or choices could turn them gay?

Well, that's actually true. I was happily married to Liza Minelli until I saw Chris Hemsworth in Thor.

Just got the 4DX tickets. Only way to experience a blockbuster now. You don't just watch the movie, you're IN the movie. Last time I was on an Enterprise simulator was in Vegas years ago, so - excited.

Anyone do the Trek convention center /Museum thing in Canada or NYC yet? Although not a "trekkie" sounds like it could be cool.

How much did you get paid for that post? :o

Nothing. It is the only way to see movies now - if you can afford it.

30 bucks a ticket. Moving seats. Air rushes at you. You're sprayed with water. Your seat kicks you and punches you matched to the action. And bullets shoot past you. Unsure how 2D films are in it, don't think I'd ever see a 2D film in it. Only 3D. Turns it into a simulator ride.

I have a similar view on it and technology as Walt Disney. The more technology to break that divide the better. Rides are just movies that move. Movies that move - have become rides. It's nuts. I love it. Although be careful about raining scenes - thry drench you, literally.

"The seat kicks and punches you" doesn't sound like a great selling point. :o

It's hard to explain. But it's awesome. You are fighting the characters and they're fighting you. It's surreal. Also don't care about selling anyone on it or not. Don't have a stake in it.

Sounds like you do though...
It's like i'm reading a infomercial.

I also highly recommend capital one for all your credit card needs. It is real ppl and not answering services and stuff. Free 4dx tickets just for signing up.

Pegg shouldn't have tried to give that rambling metaphysical explanation of why Sulu is gay.

That 4DX gimmick baffles me. People ***** about loud rude movie goers and rowdy kids then they pay to have their seats bumped and water and air thrown at them.

Film and cinema shouldnt be a theme park ride.

Tell it to William Castle.

That is what I was wondering. Saying it is a different universe and thus Sulu could be gay made it sound quite a bit like, you know, he wasn't born gay, he was somehow made gay.

Praise Marvolo, the bringer of truth.

It's simple since they announced this. This is an alternate universe where this Sulu is gay. Which is fine.

The only person who really can have a dog in this fight is Takei, other than that, this is pretty meaningless to all of us.

Not for everyone but I love the added dimension of being in it. As said for blockbusters it adds even more to that rollercoaster feeling of it. Dramas like that, no way. But action spectacle blockbusters on the other hand absolutely love it.

With that also, few others would spend money for it since it's more expensive and to see it that way you'd need to live in a major metropolitan area. I think the only places in the US with it today even available to people is LA and NYC.

It is fine if you ignore the obvious implications. I love Pegg, I defend him all the time. He should have never said that. Never.

Yeah. Hate that Pegg said that and no idea what he means by it. Sounds like he's saying being gay is a choice. Is that what he's saying? In one alternate universe something happened to Sulu to make him gay? Just doesn't make sense...
