The Force Awakens Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens Trailer #1 Discussion - Part 1

Human Torch, I don't know what to say. So you don't like the teaser. you thought it was disappointing. Okay.

But did it fail as a teaser? no.

Go back to what Terry said: We could've had teasers galore where they could shown us just the logo, be it Jurassic World or Star Wars. But that didn't happen, and sometimes we forget that we're spoiled. We lost some perspective.

But,this teaser didn't really acclimate us to the new cast.So if that was the intention,it failed even more. It's just some random images.

We got a glimpse of Boyega and I still don't know for certain, but I'm guessing Ridley on the speeder. It did nothing to introduce the new characters.I'm thinking that would be the purpose of the full trailer.

What the teaser should've done was give a glimpse of the old cast. Then you'd have everybody and their brother rallying around in excitement.Try as they may,you can't convince me that Joe Public is more interested in some nondescript stormtrooper/girl on a bike than seeing a glimpse of Mark Hamill after 30 odd years.
It is not suppose to acclimatize. This is the new Star Wars. Here is some vague images involving the new cast. These images all show us something new.The new trio. The new droid. The new Stormtroopers The new speeders. The new X-Wings. The new lightsaber. The new villain.

Then it closes on the theme and the Falcon fighting in atmo against Tie-Fighters.

The idea is the intrigue, not teach you anything other then a new Star Wars is coming. And you can say what you want about what the general public wants, but the general public doesn't follow Star Wars all that closely, so the majority probably don't even know the crew is coming back. They won't until they see the big marketing campaign next year. The trailer has got a lot of love, so excuse me if I don't take your nitpicking all that seriously.

I don't see how someone can be disappointed about a teaser for a movie that is still 12 months away... usually we don't get a blip of anything at this stage of the game.

What's also amazing is that people on SHH always complain if the trailer "gives too much of the plot away" but in this case I've seen people complaining about it not giving away enough... ?!?

It's just a rabbit hole debate. We're just so spoiled.

Most care more about the universe as a whole that just seeing Luke. 95% won't know it's him either. Mark Hamil looks alot different than before. Seeing X-Wings, adventure, the Falcon, a villain with a lightsaber has already got Joe Public jumping up and down about this. It's the talk of the internet these past few days. It did it's job.

I don't understand why people think we NEEDED to see Luke, Han and Leia in this teaser. We know they're in the movie. EVERYONE knows they're in the movie. Would it have made people a little more excited? Maybe, but considering how the internet has been buzzing like crazy since this thing was released, I don't think Star Wars has anything to worry about.

Because peoples have to complain about something.

Exactly.

haha no! He's in the teaser for a 3 secs, but he's cute, but cute done right. Vs something is suppose to be cute and ends up being Jar-Jarring.

This teaser was basically saying, "a new Star Wars movie is coming. Get your ass ready." That is what it was supposed to do.

Think about it, when has a teaser ever pleased everybody where it is universally praised and loved? They always get a mixed reception. Just take x and y and it's the same criticisms I've seen from all the other teasers we get.

I've never said I didn't like the teaser, just that it was underwhelming.

Like I said,it is what it is.Some people are acting like it was the greatest thing since the invention of cinema, others act like it was a crime against humanity.

I was still excited by it.But,it still could've been a lot better.

When did people start reviewing trailers? It's like reviewing an advert for cereal. This adverts sucks so the cereal must taste bad. What?

Sorry. Thought this was a discussion thread about the trailer. No-one has said that the trailer is going to reflect on the film. Most haven't even said that it's bad, just that it didn't really excite them.

Getting defensive wont change anyone's mind.

A waste of time....especially with all the hype generated.

I find it very amusing and ironic that you consider viewing a 90 second teaser trailer a waste of time, yet you seem perfectly happy to spend a much longer amount of time writing multiple posts to ensure everyone knows how unsatisfied you are with it.

He's the Sith of this thread :awesome::awesome::awesome::awesome::awesome:

Anyway back to discussion.

Daisy amd Boyega are on Tattoine (sp). Why? Could she be looking for Luke? Are the Empire after her? Does she live there?

It's not really Tatooine most likely. Devin and a few other good sources said a long time ago that it was not. And if you watch the footage there is only one sun. Not two.

The twin suns are not in every shot of the original film either. More importantly if it isn't Tatooine, they really shouldn't have made it look exactly like Tatooine.
