Now it makes sense. Was the droid shown just before Daisy's scene? After the crappy meaningless 2 second scenes of irrelevant robot insects hitting each other on the nose that Lucas added I just had in my mind that it was a random droid just there to look cute. It's quite a good design for a female character's droid.

No, the little droid was actually the second shot. But if you look at the Daisy sequence, it is two different scenes spliced together. In the first shot, you see a bit of netting on her speeder. That is the "basket" she keeps the droid in.

Concept art and reports place the droid throughout the film, always around Daisy's character.

Oh ya beat me to it. Well I'm glad you brought it up and posted about it I'd completely forgotten about the old Artoo concept. It makes me like this new droid even more knowing it's based on old concepts from earlier star wars productions. Makes it feel like it's got the DNA of the old films if that makes any sense.

Yeah, anything Ralph McQuarrie and Artoo has me on its side.

Why a girl's droid? I'd be happy to adventure across the galaxy with that cute little guy. Unless he's a massive dick head or something.

I don't think we will get any kind of character bios before the first full trailer. I am thinking they want to hold on to the character names as long as possible. So we probably won't see bios before we start seeing the toys and interviews are necessary.

You just know we're gonna know the names of these characters and more about them when the toys leak. Before anything official comes out. And/or the LEGO's which always seem to do a good job of showing us a lot more than we'd like.
