I'd like the films to be set around 30 years after Jedi. Have cameos from the older actors (touch them up with some ILM) and set it around the Skywalker kids.

See I want something completely new set in the same world.

New threats and new faces of good. I'd like to see different force based groups/factions that aren't the Sith or the Jedi. Setting it 1000 years after lends itself to so many new and fresh possibilities.

Agreed. One of my biggest problems with the prequels is that half of the first and second film take place on Tatooine, a planet which had already been explored extensively in the OT. It is such a vast universe. Why limit yourself to the Skywalker family's adventures?

Yeah Nick Stahl will never play Luke Skywalker.

Who would you suggest?

Mark Hamill?

Deathstroke, Luke Skywalker doesn't even have to be in it.

Hey just put a lot of makeup of Mark Hamill, do some CG airbrushing, and put him under a bunch of robes and it's old master Luke Skywalker, yes I'd go with it.

Alec Guinness wasn't exactly a young and spry spring chicken in the 1970's.

 Couldn't agree more.

After recent events, Hamill is probably in better shape than Nick Stahl anyways.

No one as Thrawn. If you do an immediate sequel like that it is going to be underwhelming. That has always been the problem with the EU. No one can trump Vader and Palpatine and when writers tried things like cloning Palps it just felt silly. The EU shouldn't even be considered when crafting the stories of the sequel trilogy. It is glorified fan fiction.

Any production of a property that is more than a generation old is just glorified fan fiction.

I'm not taking about an OLD Luke Skywalker. I'm talking about an Expanded Universe Luke in his prime:

Hamill is way passed that.

I'd rather not introduce a group of brand new characters. Episodes 1-3 did enough to alienate fans of the first three films. Episodes 7-9 should aim to bring them back by continuing the story of the classic characters.

The story doesn't have to be about prime Luke Skywalker who has ladies fighting over him and is super awesome and restarts the Jedi Council and Academy where the jedis can boink all the hot laydies they want.

Olivia Wilde as Princess Leia

i can not see anyone else playing Luke or Han though

Disney is trying to own my childhood...if they get their hands on Transformers and GI Joe they will

I would agree, and have been saying that to free itself, begin this thousands of years later in the SWU. We haven't even seen that yet. This whole new trilogy or series can be about a set of different characters and places.

Really, the possibilities are endless.

But oh my God. First I heard the Disney news and was shocked. But then I got the bomb dropped about this new movie. I've been having a downer of a week and I am now just rejuvinated. I never thought I would be saying Star Wars Episode 7.

I haven't been this excited about news like this in forever. I would love to see the return of Luke Skywalker, but whatever they do they need a Skywalker.

I wonder what this means, if anything at all, for Dark Horse Comics having SW license.

Having the old cast return will be permission to print money

Ah, the much vaunted 3rd trilogy. Um, yay?

They better not lose it, Dark Horse makes amazing Star Wars stories.

I would re-cast. Young Adult Luke, Leia and Han is what I want to see. James McAvoy would probably be my Luke.
