Dunno about them outsiders

I spy something with a 'B'

I :hrt: Looker, Katana and Black Lightning the most out of the original team. I dont remember much about Halo but her costume is neat

Loved the team though and loved the Outsiders book by Winnick as well

Winick's Outsiders series was cool. Bedard's run would've been cool if they'd allowed him to do it, judging from the characters he picked. Never really been interested in any other versions.

Never really read any other versions.

But I've always dug the concept. Batman gets booted out of the League, so he starts up his own. It's a pretty good concept. Shoulda done a cartoon.

Batman, Inc. seems to do the concept of "Batman creates a team" a lot better to me.

Except everybody ain't a buncha Batman wannabes, and these dudes had powers.

He trusted these dudes and dudettes......but he still probably had some contingency plans. Just in case. You know Bat's contingency fetish.

But I think he liked BL and Metamorpho cuz they told the League to go f**k themselves when they asked them to join.

Let's analyze WHY Batman doesn't trust folks with powers:

1) Mind-Controlled Superman. Which happens A LOT.
2) Hal Jordan becoming Parallax. Which of course was retconned
3) Zatanna mind-wiping him because he caught them breaking their moral code of ***king with another man's mind. Okay fine, Light was a rapist SOB and they stomped him bad, but these guys, this "League within a League" decided to take it a step further. And then when they were caught in the act, they freaked. Its funny how that worked. Nearly all the other guys (except Ollie that self-righteous scumbag. Oh and Hawkman but he doesn't count) in that room had powers but the sight Batman who they knew was powerless scared them more than anything.

See when Batman messes up, nearly EVERYONE is in line to rub it in his face. But say when Hal or Clark messes things up a writer usually takes the time to give the character redemption.

In the case of Batman, they decided to play up on his "paranoia". To be honest, it should have stopped with Waid's masterstroke, Tower of Babel. The OMAC Project was a joke of a story which actually enforced WHY Bruce cooks up these plans in the first place when Superman gets mind controlled again and demolishes him.

See the pattern here? Everything Parallax did was chalked up to the "Parallax" entity. Everything Superman does when he's mind controlled can be chalked up to the controller. Everything Batman does? Nah, that's all on HIM.

Oh pooooor Batman. :(

F**k that guy. :argh:

Yeah, like you could be on the same team as a guy with the words 'GF' on his chest and take him seriously.

Batman's a lesson in discipline and tolerance.

I wonder why they didn't go with a rock or something instead. :o

Geo-Force's symbol should totally be a Geodude.

Hell he can **** stuff like spandex and go bare-chested with a Geodude tattooed on his back or something.

That's the most awesome thing I ever heard ever.

A big fat "meh" from me. Batman and the Outsiders was actually the beginning of the ******* psycho Batman.

The Outsiders are a group that marked Frank Miller's first assault on Superman's good name. It was he that suggested to Mike W. Barr the angle of Superman serving as a US Government stooge and refusing to interfere in the Markovian civil war. So that series can bite me.

Of the characters themselves, Halo has an okay costume and Geo-Force was a decent character. Katana sucks, Looker sucks, BL is a good character, and Metamorpho is a really good character. But the series itself sucked, and as I said it was where Miller's assault on Superman began.

How good was Batman as a leader anyway?

I've always wondered.

In that series? Not particularly, IMO. Bruce is a great tactician but Dick is better at leading teams. He's the closest thing in the DCU to a Cap or Cyclops type leader.

Well yeah... You kind of need to trust a leader. And as great as Bruce is, you could see him having ulterior agendas (which granted, he would believe to be right...).

Dick is far more "frontline" and unguarded. WYSIWYG.

Bats and the Outsiders Rocked... well kind of.. the initial concept was awesome. With bats doing things that the league wouldn't and couldn't( funny cause years before BL didnt join,Green Arrow left and finally Bats left because they all felt the league didnt care) then came Halo,Katana,Geo-force and looker. I love the old mixing with the new. but only Katana who's sword would kill someone and take their soul ,with her all the time trying to keep from being taking control by it ,showed any promise for me. The" i dont know where i am from but with each ray i shoot i change color Halo" sucked. Looker really never did anything for me and Geo only became cool once the outsiders were over with. i mean if you fight someone named "the Duke of Oil" that's pretty bad!! Bats and the outsiders could have went where no comic had went before. it could have been the authority before the authority instead it changed into another mediocre superteam... but any team with BL on it had to rocked... so i am bias so sue me!:cwink:

Metamorpho is the bomb, Jack...

Underused and therefore under-appreciated.

oopsie forgot Metamorpho!! man if you can pull a hot babe like sapphire stagg you are indeed the man. I always think of the Justice league cartoon when she come out and John Stewart started to drool! Metamorpho is bad ass! that team should have been the da bomb!
