Let's analyze WHY Batman doesn't trust folks with powers:
1) Mind-Controlled Superman. Which happens A LOT.
2) Hal Jordan becoming Parallax. Which of course was retconned
3) Zatanna mind-wiping him because he caught them breaking their moral code of ***king with another man's mind. Okay fine, Light was a rapist SOB and they stomped him bad, but these guys, this "League within a League" decided to take it a step further. And then when they were caught in the act, they freaked. Its funny how that worked. Nearly all the other guys (except Ollie that self-righteous scumbag. Oh and Hawkman but he doesn't count) in that room had powers but the sight Batman who they knew was powerless scared them more than anything.
See when Batman messes up, nearly EVERYONE is in line to rub it in his face. But say when Hal or Clark messes things up a writer usually takes the time to give the character redemption.
In the case of Batman, they decided to play up on his "paranoia". To be honest, it should have stopped with Waid's masterstroke, Tower of Babel. The OMAC Project was a joke of a story which actually enforced WHY Bruce cooks up these plans in the first place when Superman gets mind controlled again and demolishes him.
See the pattern here? Everything Parallax did was chalked up to the "Parallax" entity. Everything Superman does when he's mind controlled can be chalked up to the controller. Everything Batman does? Nah, that's all on HIM.
