I would say it's because he's aware that he was not Asgard. I mean, sure other directors would've played it up a little more but for once I like that there could be a character and a love interest that actually likes each other through the movie.
Many women might be his opposite man. One's left wondering why this one in particular who doesn't have any specially attractive personality.
