On the topic of not hearing Pennywise. I think they should feature some voice clips. I need to be convinced that this new take will be a good performance. I don't get the point of hiding him until the movie opens. He's the main attraction. I'm not arguing for spoilers, but I don't like the idea of hiding him away as though they're trying to cover up the cracks. I'd be the same for a new Nightmare on Elm St if they hid Freddy and his voice in trailers.

I understand where you're coming from. You want to hear it because you're not sure you're gonna like it.

But coming from a person who hates to be spoiled I think I'd prefer they didn't. Also not hearing him makes him already feel scarier to me.

Precisely. Is that really so hard for you to grasp? I've never read the book either. I may never get round to reading it. Seeing a film I'm not keen on the look of is not something I tend to do. I guess I'm just not like you.

As someone who ragged on Richie's character in the book, I was delighted to see him in the new teaser. That kid is a great actor, he brought Richie to life with even one line shown

I think in the next trailer we'll get one phrase from him, nothing major but probably something from his scene in the storm drain. I get the sense they want to keep the horror of the character amorphous and looming in the atmosphere.

He is verbose in Fukunaga's script though, and according to the director he actually added a few lines in Swedish to make it more freaky.
