17 people truly feel Storm could beat Thor. My goodness. I'll just say this, if Thor punched her hard enough he will break her face, shatter her skull, thus the tiny bone fragments would cut her brain where she will bleed and eventually die, or he could just snap her pretty little neck, or smash her head in with Mjolnir.

No, 17 people think Storm is more popular than Thor.

Because those are 17 people who actually took the time to actually (Oh-My-God!) read the inquiry the first poster made instead of the other 88 Maria-Vai-com-as-outras who just saw the title of the thread and thought it was a poll of who was more powerful.

Yeah?
Well, I have 112 people in my head who say otherwise. :p

And clearly, you´ve never been to war.
Contrary to what you may see in movies, war is not all-out madness 24/7.
Ask any person who´s ever actually seen armed conflicts and he´ll tell you this: the single biggest component of War is "waiting".
Yes, long, boring, dreadful, endless hours staring at a fly laying eggs. Sometimes for days in a row. And then suddenly, sometimes out of nowhere, all hell breaks loose. Gunfire, artillery shells, men screaming, the works.
That's all fine and dandy, but it's not the same for a guy like Captain America. He's going to be travelling from battle to battle till he drops. Also, even having one of those battles once a week for four years is still quite tasking and would be like living in hell.

Also, the argument that war was that much easier because of the super soldier serum is only halfway true. It only gave him a better chance at surviving, but any bullet coming his way could've done him in. He was in total warfare after all, and battling multitudes of Nazi's. Being able to survive that just a tad more easier doesn't make it less of a hell.

And you continue to conveniently "forget" that from June 6 1944 to roughly one month before the armstice in April 1945 (whoa, that´s like 10 whole months! That´s 2 months shorter than a regular tour of duty in Nam!), Steve´s participation in the war in europe resumed to him prancing around as a skinny waste of a corporal "in the rear with the gear"?
Are you trying to tell me that Cap only actually served as Captain America for 10 months, even though he's been shown to be fighting the Nazi's in Europe prior to Pearl Harbor?

Really? Then why does it say Ontario, Canada in your handle?

Because when I signed on I was living in Ontario and I cant be bothered to change the info

I guess you missed the part where she meets them while traveling from Egypt to Kenya, eh?

I guess I must have. I especially missed the part where she went from being a pick pocket on the 'mean streets' and that was worth more combat experience to fighting in world war 2, to being a travelling war child when it became apparent that the pick pocket life didnt quite stack up. What's next? She singlehandedly defeat communism without her powers?

Trust me, I´ve actually lived in Africa and have close family there. You go into the wilderness and from hot-tempered hypos to hyenas, everything wants to kill you. They just may not want to eat you. (Buffalos are more dangerous to people than lions because they attack no matter what... and they´re herbivorous!)
Big dif.

Dude I've been out there too. Your info is faulty, r you just had horribly bad luck. You stay out of their way and they will leave you alone.

Oooh, let´s see. Between Egyot and Kenya we have Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea and -depending on what route she used, Uganda or Somalia-.
Hmm... no, you´re right, I don´t think there was ever any armed conflicts in those countries. And most definitelly no children ever even touched a kalashnikovs there, that´s for sure.

 What are you ******ed or just selectively illiterate? I agreed that ther was armed conflict. Lots of armed conflict, just nothing that compares to WWII. Certainly nothing that compares to being the American Super Soldier dressed in the American flag with a big star for a bullseye on your chest and everyone gunning for you

Not really. When you have a superserum running through your veins that allows you to do things like use an indetructible shiled to deflect thousands of bullets per second and the speed to effortlessly dodge artillery fire, even Omaha beach is a cakewalk.

Dude he's peak human. IF he's lucky he can dodge one bullet. He cant dodge artillery fire. What are you smoking?

And clearly, you´ve never been to war.

I lived in Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War. Sirens going off everynight, going to bed with your gas mask, soldiers on the streets, scuds and patriots overhead.

I was in Sharm el Sheikh last year not 10 minutes drive from the two terrorist attacks that killed 200 civillians.

And I've studied World War II, wrote a thesis on it acctually

I think I know a thing or two about armed conflicts

So what do you know about armed conflicts besides: their not like you see them in the movies, and they really are a piece of cake compared to the life of a thief
:whatever:

So what? One day of being on the front lines dressed in the flag with the whole german army trying to kill you trumps a year of being a beggar in Africa in my book

Sigh
Around and around,.......

I guess it could be worse,.. this could be about NightCrawler, and Spiderman,......

True.:yay:

I'm not saying some people didn't read the first post and really feel that Thor is more popular then Storm but if you go back and look at some of the replies, then most people think this is actually a Vs debate.

This reminds me of a test I took as a kid, which on the very first line before question 1 said "Please do not write anything on this paper, as this is a test to see if people will actually follow instruction."

More then half of the class didn't read the first line and failed the test, myself included.:csad:

Yeah, I was thinking about it and I forgot to respond. I'll do it. It'll probably take me until Monday or Tuesday, though, since I'm working all weekend.

No one bothers reading now in days in a message board how horrible. :p

Lets be clear on this:

The X-men movies feature Wolverine

They are being used to launch Wolverine movies. Storm just happens to be an X-man
Sure she's a popular X-man but not populare enough to get her own book. So certainly not popular enough to get her own movie

This is a popularity poll and Thor already won. Now I'll admit if you took this to a non comic book forum Storm would probably win but since this is a comic book forum you are fresh out of luck

Some X-men character are more popular too the general audience, who is unfamiliar with comic books, than Thor ever has, if anything they are more likely to think norse mythology Thor than Avengers MU Thor.

Too us of course we know Thor, he's a Silver age hero, he's had his own titles since the begginning, F*ing duh! But that's our world not the whole world That knows.

and from what i recall this was ment too be a popularity contest, i took the rest of the ppl not here into consideration when voting.

Oh and i would never in might right mind say Storm takes out Thor, Thor is a freakng god!!!!...................which is where he gets dull to me. :o :D

Ah, the old "more power = boring character" argument. It never gets old, just like it never gets any merit.

Hey it's the reason why I don't read Superman on a regular basic.

Yeah, this is silly. Storm vs. Cap is how much lightning can cap take before dieing.

Or one could argue that it could be about how many shield-bashings to the face Storm can take before passing out.

I mean, Cap's beaten down foes far more powerful than Storm, so why would anyone consider a possible fight between the two of them a definite win in Storm's column?

Because a shield does little against a tornado.:cwink:

Lol storm could just put up a pressure dome and laugh at pretty much everthing he tries to throw at her. Then when her fun is done she could just fry him.

Yea it's silly indeed to think Wolverine would be uninteresting because of it.

:)

Of course me having an opinion and being one who enjoys characters i can relate too does not have anything to do with what i said. ;)

It also does little against a guy with vast cosmic powers, but Cap's beaten him plenty of times.

As far as comic book logic goes.

With the proper writing Howard the Duck can defeat Galactus.

:D

On the popularity front, there are arguments for both...but one thing Thor has going for him given he has a handicap because of the xmen movies is that Thor is a common name to anyone who has iota of knowledge about Nordic Mythology. Therefore Thor transcends the comic world.

But given the current level of culture in the owrld, it is likely that a movie would be more popular then non-greek mythology
