Reading just a tad too much into that comment in my opinion. It's well known that that the localized weather reacts to her emotions and mood. It's more likely it was a manifestation of her emotional state. (I do agree with the last comment that in a manner of speaking all life has ties to Gaea.

Thor IS the weather, he rules over it. And Weather based attacks DO NOT EFFECT THOR. Which means storm has no way of hurting Thor, who also is strong and fast enough to go toe to toe with HULK. So weather can't give Storm an advantage, and every other ability, such as speed, strength, intellligence(thor has been around for a VERY LONG TIME), weaponary, endurance, toughness etc etc etc.

Thor is undoubtedly physically superior, and Weather doesn't affect him. Not too mention Thor has a monopoly on the weather control thing, as in HE CREATES THE WEATHER as he pleases, not manipulating it, and he can dispel it just as easily.

If Thor doesn't allow it, there is no friggin weather for Storm to manipulate. Being the type of guy he is, he'd probably allow her to throw everything she could at him just to laugh it off and turn her into a pretty pink mist.

Or maybe he could allow her to use the wind to fly up a 1000 feet or so then pull that control away. Maybe then she could ask Gaea for assistance in making the ground a little softer as she slams into it...again, she's a pretty pink mist.

If you're using "King Thor" to refer to the time when he held the Odinforce, we don't know that he doesn't still have it. He might still be packing just as much power as when he was Lord of Asgard or even Rune Thor.
