Why make a topic about a fight that did happen in a comic book? Contest of the Champions II, issue 3. Thor "took her breath away" during that fight, and I absolutely loved it. Go read the book if you haven't already (and no I will not read 34 pages to find out if someone already posted this)

It's not a storm vs thor topic in a fight, and mostly everyone has come in this thread and not even read the first post. Like you :csad:

Some of us know perfectly well how the thread started out and voted accordingly at the time. The thread has simply progressed and mutated since then.

"Storm/Thor Popularity Contest." Avoid the word "versus" or any of its abbreviations and note that it's about popularity and you'd probably be fine. I'm sure the odd person would still come in and be all, "Storm/Thor could totally kick Thor's/Storm's ass lol!!!!!!11" but there'd be a lot fewer of them.

Or, y'know, just keep Ozone and his "Storm = nature/Thor can't do jack" rhetoric out of the thread.

Thor's a god. Plus he's a founding member of the Avengers. But what does a cape have to do with all that? I missed something.

I'll go ask.

Some of us as in 100/10 voted without reading the first post and didn't know it was a storm vs thor in popularity. Most of everyone that has come into the thread that actually read the first post, have stated that storm is the most popular. The results up above has just been ridiculously misinterpreted. The point of this thread has not changed.

Well, it's partially the original poster's fault, too. Naming a thread "Storm Vs Thor" is going to make a lot of people automatically think it's another traditional versus thread, and the poll appears at the top of the page before even the first post. He should've specified the popularity bit in the topic.

Maybe he did it on purpose(seeing as how he didn't feel storm deserved a cape more then thor in mua.)

Kree vs Skrulls
Obsession vs Brainlock
Redskins vs Dallas
peanut butter vs jelly

Twelve step programs are available...stop the bleeding now! :cwink:

This occured on the MUA thread, people were arguing as to why thor is allowed a cape and storm isn't(yeah kinda sad), and the question came out as to who was the better and more popular character, vote away....

I found out that the creator of the thread has to ask a moderator to change the name,... that's all it takes.

The simple answer of course is that she wasn't in the core but simply in an area of space that had a lot more stars than she would be used to. This would also allow for the living worlds that she sensed. They could not exist in or anywhere near the core. She simply wasn't where she thought she was.

Nah.

That takes away from Thor,... Says that on a base level if you put her in a loose cluster like what we can find in a few places in out galaxy,... she'll be this powerful, (Able to blast apart a faster than light craft from her output alone,.... not even trying, being strong enough from the power absorbed to not explode or immediately boil away in naked space.)

I'd rather Put this power level on the edge of what's going to beat Thor and still be a Human Mutant.

It still leaves the path as shown in Alt stories where she switches over to an Aspect of her powers,.. much like Iceman does when he goes all ice.

I was reading a science story recently about the human body surviving in a vacuum. According to the story if you are not holding your breath when you enter space you can remain conscious about 15 seconds which is how long the oxygen in your blood lasts. You don't freeze right away because space does not conduct heat away from your body. It takes several minutes to die. If you are holding your breath then your lungs explode from the greater pressure inside and you die right away.

Edited for convo's sake:
And now we know that at some level even teleportation is possible.

You know I sense your frustration. Knowledge is a powerful thing.

There is a funny theory making the rounds of science that purpports to address all that we see.

You know, if you can conceive a thing, it probably is possible. Somehow, deep within my sense of being I know that there is a relationship between conceiiving a thing, believing it can be done and it actually occurring, simply because my belief might lead to an action that I might not otherwise undertake.

The nature of science is explaining what and how. It follows that if we can imagine it in any amount of detail,.. we can prove, understand, or make it happen.

We are a world society that after centuries of benifiting from dreamers still scoff and belittle them for "dreaming".

We have a great mass of "practical" people who have to be forced if they are in the mix, or excluded if they are not - to advance or progress along any of the boundaries of what is "known."

There are those for example who are dead set against beamed power from space,.. or beamed powered vehicles as an alternative to using Oil.

Their biggest complaint is the Startup cost.

We've had efficient Beamed power tech for over 25 years, but have had every attempt to get started even at the small scale impeded by folk who either howl about how much it would cost (Without realizing the Millions it takes to start any sort of Power sys from scratch.), or how Dangerous it would have to be.
(Beamed Energy from space would supposidly be capable of pumping enough energy down in a form that could kill thousands,... untrue.)

There is NO DOUBT that we are further behind where we could be as far as science because of this "practical" group who "of course" know that what is thought of outside the relm of their immediate knowledge is "impossible."

Meh,... Damn rite I'm frustrated when I come to what I think is one of the places where people are supposed to think clearly on "what if?" And run into flat denial.

Peace.

I will say this, Ororo might not be able to defeat Thor in a fight, but she has surely used her weather powers in far more inventive and in a wider range than Thor ever has.

Well She was unconcious which is canon for "dead meat" as far as how her powers work - and of course we don't know how long the pulse lasted after she destroyed her ship,... only that she tumbled thru space afterward.

Meh.

I'd chalk that up to the fact that they're all she has. Thor is generally regarded as more of a bruiser than a weather manipulator, so he hits things more and manipulates weather less. I almost wish Thor weren't as physically powerful as he is, since it seems to limit what a lot of writers think he can do, even though he's easily one of the most versatile powerhouses in the Marvel universe. The guy's at or near the top of the field in half a dozen areas, yet you'd never know that unless you read through practically his entire series or were just lucky enough to stumble onto the few comics where he really uses the rest of his powers.

It is sad. Thor barely uses lightning and he very very rarely has created rain and stoms... he did compliment Ororo on her mastery over the elements :D

Has anyone read What if v2 12? Ororo Goddess of Thunder becomes Odin in that issue :D
