Sci-Fi Stranger Things (Netflix) - Part 1

The last 2 episodes were epic and hyped me quite a lot for S5. Some of the best television I've seen.

That being said, the 1 month wait between the first 7 eps and the last 2 killed the momentum and was a very stupid decision to split it like that.

In addition, there were way too many drawn out moments through the season that could've been cut to reduce screen time and improve the pacing. The Hopper Russia storyline in particular was boring, stretched way too much and nothing really happened until the end. It drags the whole season down, imo.

I hope S5 has tighter pacing.
Stupid? This helped ST be in the general audience's mind for over 2 months - theorizing, gushing over Eddie, etc.. / usually this show gets about one and a half week's worth of hype and that's it. This easily had two weeks of pre-hype, a month or so of more anticipation/raving, and now will have a week to glide on people who didn't have time over a Holiday weekend.

Also, I'd rank them;

S4 - peak core groups w/ acting and plot (with their two separate teams), nice to have a physical villain (Vecna), plus EDDIE - baby.
S1 - legendary first season
S3 - 11/Max hype, everything with the mall, Robin Hive - baby
----
S2 - neat ideas, started strong w/ HALLOWEEN, but lacked focus... has the weakest [cough Lost Sister cough] episode of the series, and the worst 'monsters' too.

Along with the awesome reprise of "Running Up That Hill" in the finale, I really liked the use of Moby's "When It's Cold I'd Like to Die".

Oddly that was a S1 use, re-play / and I believe the only time they've soundtracked a song from "the future" in the show.

Switch season one and season four and that’s pretty much my ranking. I also agree with you on everything you mentioned about each season, especially season two. I still enjoy it to an extent, but it definitely feels like an early draft that needed to go through a ton more drafts and rewrites. It feels less like a complete season and more of a prologue to the last season that should’ve been done in half the number of episodes. It definitely feels like they really needed to get a season out by a certain release date and didn’t have enough time to really polish and nail everything down. Billy is an afterthought that feels like less of a character and more of a glorified obstacle or plot device. If season one is a 10, season four is a 9, and season three is an 8 or 9, then season two is definitely a 6 or 7.

I loved this season, but there is just something about the first season that’s really special for me and hasn’t quite been topped overall. Though, I will say, this season is the peak in terms of emotional moments in the entire series so far.

I only really have the vaguest memories of the previous seasons, but this feels right to me except... I think I dug S3 more than most seemed to 'round these parts, and I remember saying "Um, what?" to some of the writing in S1.

'Stranger Things' Spinoff Won't Follow Eleven, Steve or Dustin - Variety

“It’s not following…I’ve read these rumors that there’s gonna be an Eleven spinoff, that there’s gonna be a Steve and Dustin spinoff or that it’s another number,” the Duffer Brothers recently said on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast. “That’s not interesting to me because we’ve done all that. We’ve spent I don’t know how many hours exploring all of that. So it’s very different.”

Just a typo, he means 001.

Nah
11 created the rift, that brought 001 into the Upsidedown where
he created the Mindflayer. He also said, that 11 made him that way (Vecna)and he designed everything for her and waited for the time to face her

Epic final two episodes. Biggest standout scene for me was seeing Eddie shred “Master of Puppets”

Finale set up what should be an awesome last season. Can’t wait to see where they take it

I can't hear that Moby song again, depressing as hell every time I hear it and it's used, which is more regular than one would think. Sopranos used it as well for the end of one of the most bleak episodes of that series.
