76.85% of that 27.3% market share is from 4 movies. That's insane.

With Dr. Strange, Moana and Rogue One on the horizon. As long as they released one Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, Animated movie and Live Action Remake each year, they could do as many Alice 2s, Lone Rangers, John Connors, etc. as they wanted.

This may be a topic for another thread but do you guys foresee a Hollywood bubble popping soon with these blockbuster movies? I dunno, I feel like we are approaching something big happening to spark some change. This year was a harsh for pretty much all the studios (except Disney) and you gotta wonder if the all the guys in suits are having serious conversations about pumping out this huge budget movies back to bakc.

There is a good chance, next year is choc-a-bloc with big releases so the competition will be cutthroat and some movies will just get lost there. The GA fatigue should also be a factor and studios definitely would hafta rethink their strategies.

Outside of Star Wars next year, I don't know who else would be a sure bet for $1B with the competition. There are probably favorites but there are going to be some disappointments obviously reviews will help.

It sure is. Disney is in a commanding place and they still have Rogue one and Dr Strange coming up and Moana could also become a big hit and I think it will. Their market share should increase further.

WB will probably make some ground with Fantastic Beasts and Storks while Fox will further drop as they only have Assasin's Creed and it might not be a big draw.

I think last year Universal beat out Disney (21.3% to 19.8%) but they also released 21 movies whereas Disney released 11 movies that year. Not including the carryover from the previous year releases.

I sure hope not......:woot:

Is there a thread about this bluckbuster bubble discussion in the Misc. Films thread? Or some create a thread for it? Would definitely like to hear more detailed discussion about this. Though doing it here will probably be off topic.

After knowing what Disney did to Tarantino, i don't think i will keep paying to watch their stuff. Not that it would matter to them, but i can't stand bullying and more people should do the same. They're a crappy company.

Ha. Between my multiple Disney trips, movies, video games, merchandising, I give Disney plenty of money. It's nice that they own Marvel and Star Wars now, so I can give everything to one company.

You hate Disney because of that :whatever:

If we boycotted every company that bullied, misrepresented, did shady practices. We'd all stay home reading books and talking to one another. LOL

Not just that. They've done plenty of crap in the past. And i don't hate. I simply avoid to give money to them unless they make something i'm absolutely crazy to see.

But it also dropped $100M domestically but made up for it foreign gross. I wouldn't necessarily be surprised if Transformers did $1B BUT I wouldn't necessary be surprised if it didn't.

Didn't China make up a huge chunk of Transformers 4's box office gross? That was likely because part of it was set in China. If Transformers 5 has no scenes set in China they're probably not going to care as much about it.

God I hated that piece of dog$#!t. I can't understand why people subjected themselves to that crap. I suppose masochism isn't that unusual.

whats funny is the domestic gross goes down with each movie but the foreign gross has significantly gone up

So basically, Americans are gettin tired of Michael Bay's s*** :p

The international audience loves a big budget spectacle - especially when it comes to giant robots.

Giant robots beating the crap out of each other is probably the most universally liked and easiest to translate concept around the world.

The only thing that the Asian markets like more are giant monsters and Transformers 4 combined the two with the Dinobots. Its a miracle it didn't beat Avatar. :cwink:

Btw Fox still has those Avatar sequels being made by James Cameron up their sleeves. No idea if they can still live up to the 2.7 billion of the original though.
