Pathetic! :funny:

Weekend Box Office: Finally, something other than Suicide Squad
http://www.avclub.com/article/weekend-box-office-finally-something-other-suicide-241808?
Our weeks-long national nightmare of watching worthier movies underperform as Americans gave away their hard-earned dollars on the Moloch-esque sacrificial altar of the Suicide Squad hype machine is over.

I didn't notice any. Or maybe they underperformed for a reason. Pete's Dragon failed to click. Honestly, it looked boring, but I expected it to do a lot better. For every hit Disney gets, they get a flop.

I think by worthier movies, they mean ANY other movie not named Suicide Squad. I mean, how dare the crap we hated actually make money and appeal to viewers.

This sudden crop of horror movies it's what's gonna do it. Blair Witch has that name recognition right off the bat.

Some of these journalists/blog writters are weak as hell these days. Can't write up a simple non-subjective article without putting their ******** emotions into it.

Tuesday numbers

(2) Suicide Squad Warner Bros. $1,380,335 +30% 3,582 $385 $285,462,545

i think kubo deserved more recognition, other than that i dont care much for the horror genre.

It's ironic that Disney has two of the top grossing movie of 2016 so far and 3 bombs (Pete's dragon, BFG, and that Chris Pine rescue movie)

Actually they have 4 out of the top 6 domestic releases in 2016. (CW, Finding Dory, JB & Zootopia). Not to mention that WW, those 4 movies are the top grossing movies 1 - 4 exceeding $4B all together.

Not to mention they still have Dr. Strange, Moana, Rogue One at the end of the year.

Everyone has bombs and you forgot Alice. But Buena Vista/Disney has released 8 movies this year so far not counting the carry overs from last year. So it is a 1 for 1.

But I think most studios have that issue, their big tentpole movies to weather their other releases. Disney just seems to have them in spades this year.

Compared to BvS : $800,252

Seems to draw in more audience than BvS.

Edit : I think by next friday,we will get over the $300M DO mark. That would be great. And aim towards a $310M domestic.

It'll surpass $300 million on Labor Day Weekend (4-Day) or Tuesday.

Pete's Dragon cost only 65M and still hasn't open in a significant number of overseas markets (including China, Japan and Australia). It might very well turn out a profit in the end. Albeit a small one obviously.
And to stay off topic, it's a rough calculation but they probably lost less money on those movies than they made off of CW's domestic run only.

The teenage and young dynamic proved to be the kicker. In both of my showings, there was young people galore, maybe around the age of 15-18 and most were female ontop of it. I believe that percentage ontop of the fanboy DCEU fans proved better legs and overall appeal than BvS in those categories. Hopefully Wonder Woman can continue that trend.

I'm confident that SS will cross the 300 million mark in domestic markets by Monday. Labour day weekend will see a bump in domestic gross for the weekend which should be enough to propel SS past the 300 million barrier. :woot::woot:

Wednesday marked the first sub-$1m domestic outing ($955k).

2). Suicide Squad (WB), 3,292 theaters (-290) / $2.2M Fri. (-33%)/ / 3-day cume: $9.8M (-20%) /4-day: $12.77M/Total cume: $300.2M/ Wk 5

No one can dare say this underperformed. Happy for WB as I want all CBMs to succeed. I want more. From Black Panther to Lobo. Bring them all.

WB staff is on a 4-day vacation apparently.
