Suicide Squad: General Discussion and Speculation - Part 18

What a mess of a trailer. It just doesn't look like it knows what it wants to be. Clearly it's darker which is fine, but this trailer is just making it look like something else. You can tell this was cut within the week to curtail BVS's box office degradation. The poor editors. I'm just about to give up on this movie until I see Leto's Joker is still impressing me. Right now, my interest is gone but I hope the reviews are great.

It has the same tone as the last trailer. So I think it knows what it wants to be.

It's noticeably more humorous. Due to one reason: BVS. The last trailer was a GOTG rip off in feeling, and though there was humor it was mainly selling itself on how it was irreverent and quirky to pull in that GOTG crowd. This was before BVS. Now they're not even hiding the fact they want this to be more humorous and fun to the masses, especially in the wake of BVS's failure. This movie's marketing keeps getting dialed into more wacky and fun fare than the dark and fitting Comic Con trailer.

:lmao:
wow

I didn't read much comics about Superman, but I saw all previous films... And honestly, it did quite a lot.

I'd say only the first two Reeve movies did any good for Superman's rep. STM and SII kept Superman's pop culture momentum going. It's been bumpy for him ever since, IMO.

I truly hope the rumors about Batman being a huge part in this aren't true. I'm already sick of Batfleck thanks to Snyder's brushing Superman off to the side just so he could cram more of his underwhelming concept of Batman down my throat... I'm not really eager to see more at this point. Maybe seeing Affleck in this and a solo Batman film will make me change my mind, but for now... I hope the focus of this film stays on the Skwad.

I really hope that rumors are true. So Superman fans can sit and clench their teeth in hopeless anger while I'm having a blast watching Batman dominate the screen in an awesome movie. That's the Batman I waited for all my life.
I'm on Rowsdower!'s side here. This is a Suicide Squad movie, not a Batman movie.

Ayer himself proved that "reshoots to add more humor" rumor false. see his tweet from early this morning.
This trailer is very similar to the second trailer. So no, not damage control. the CC trailer was never meant to be released publicly

Shoehorning Batman in? They are all Batman villains, only makes sense.

Not all of them.

Ayer said after the Comic Con trailer that the movie is hilarious, it was his intention for the movie to have this much comedy.

I don't think you need to worry. So far, we've only seen Batman as part of one action set piece. Add the Bruce Wayne sequence we saw in set photos and that's all the Bruce/Batman you're gonna get.

If he has more than 10 minutes of screen time it will be a miracle.

Opinions are a bad thing now?

No...in fact that was what I was saying. His little jabs at row because he is a Superman fan are rather close minded.

He can be a fan of whoever he wants, he doesnt have to be a dick to other people because they feel differently. He certainly wasnt a fan of it when people were trashing his opinion on the JL boards.

(I apologize if you are not a he OutofBoose)

I don't think anybody expects him to be a huge part of this movie. Nor would I necessarily want that. But I do like that the shared universe allows for these characters to be woven in and out of other movies.

You're demonstrating close-mindedness right now. I explained everything and it can't be explained more clear.

Nobody trashed my opinions on JL board. JL board is second most civil and respectful board after WW out of DCEU. Other people also don't have to be ***** towards those who liked the film.

Yes and seeing as he probably put most of them away he would be interested if he heard the Government was using them ;)

If anything, BvS made sure DC fans will forever think Superman is lame while Batman is teh coolest! And this post proves it. ugh.

Nah. DC, WB and Bruce Timm's fumbling the character for years in comics and toons until the tail end of JUSTICE LEAGUE factors into that. I know that's unpopular but then I wasn't a kid when those projects were out and so don't have that emotional attachment.

So, turns out, it was confirmed the movie happens after BvS in EW article. Good to know (not like we didn't suspect it). But maybe not all bits. I struggle to place the scene where they talk about Superman and White House.

I liked the film. And how am I being close minded by saying you can have any opinion you want? Attacking another dude for his opinion though is exactly the thing you say you dont like. He didnt like Batfleck, you did (as did I) you are the one hoping he is miserable because of said opinion.

So who is being more close minded me who says everyone's taste and opinion is valid or you who wants Superman fans who might be a bit sick of Batman to sit in a corner and pout?

Not to mention, your solution to trying to solve the problem with toxicity on these boards is to act just as toxic as the people you despise.

Anyways back to the movie cause that matters more than our cat fight ;)

majority of them are

harley
joker
killer croc
deadshot
katana

have all been affiliated with batman and so is amanda waller
The majority of them doesn't mean all of them are and Katana isn't a villain. And Amanda Waller isn't a Batman villain.

Saying that batman is shoehorned in is absolutely ****ing ridiculous.

It's clearly more comedic. Wanting to be dark then switching to comedic. With this trailer clearly emphasizing the humor more than the last trailer going as far to take pieces of one scene to show it. They're not even being subtle about it. It's like WB execs broke into the editing room in a huff and were like, "IT NEEDS TO BE FUN!!"

And given the recent additional shooting and BVS's criticisms, they're clearly trying to market it as more fun. Not realizing that SS having a dark tone is actually better for it. It just looks so slapped together. And the shameless shoehorning of Batman in there going as far to show the Batmobile in the last shot before the title. Holy ****.

If you don't think this trailer is a result of damage control, then you're in denial.

And the beginning of this trailer... WB still enamored with hating Superman. I really hope SS isn't a result of being fearful of Superman.

Where there is a Joker, there will also be a Batman.

Do you have a link or quote where it's said to be taking place after BvS?

Joker and Harley being apprehended in Gotham?
WHAT IS BATMAN DOING THERE?!

I can't argue with this. It's like Snyder took every MOS criticism (fair or otherwise) and doubled down in making BVS.

It's like someone coming up to me one day and saying "Hey, your farts stink," and then I respond by s***ting my pants.

Yeah, pretty much. :hehe:

And as you know, NO ONE wanted BvS to work more than I did. It pains me to have such a strong dislike of it. But anyway, I didn't mean to turn this thread into a BvS debate. Just pointing out that I hope Ayer and WB didn't feel the need to shove way too much Batman into Suicide Squad just because the character is so popular. And I'd be saying that even if I liked BvS.

The Squad should fight the new gods of Apokolips if critics don't love Justice League.:o
