has that been confirmed?

It's unconfirmed if Batman shows up in Midway though.

Quite true. But it isn't something that we haven't seen before in the case of Bruce's relationship with his parents and in other ways I think BvS underdeveloped relationships and concepts such as preemptive attacks in favor of showing some great visual spectacle.
I disagree it's underdeveloped. But let's leave it at that.
I think Ayer knows the best of both worlds, he seems to have envisioned captivating characters who are driven by an established and nearly globally understood concept. General audiences tend to misunderstand shades of gray when it comes to superheroes and I can definitely sympathize with that since our world is already very dark and we often wish superheroes were real in order to make everything better. They expect a Superman that represents the ideal nature of humanity and a batman that will never abandon his one rule so with Suicide Squad you have more leeway for the often grim nature of these characters.
It's true. Snyder sent Batman and Superman into truly dark places. Basically, we had them at the lowest points of their lives. But if they'll manage to show us their growth together, people will embrace it. And maybe they will look back at BvS from a different perspective.
Going back to BvS from the onset I was very weary of the title for the movie. It left little room for mistake since a lot of people would ask themselves why would Batman be fighting Superman in the first place. This is why I'm very excited and have no doubt that Suicide Squad will live up to expectations.
BvS was a daunting task and I'm personally impressed how they managed to stuff everything in it and it actually worked for the most part. I'm waiting for 3-hour cut to make my final verdict on the film.

Ayer's task is of a different nature. IMO, incomparably easier. But it doesn't mean it's easy. I'm not waiting for a masterpiece or a great film, or a film that will please everyone. TDKR taught me a good lesson about hype. Being hyped for something is good as long as it's hype not for a masterpiece. I have no expectations for this film, just like I didn't have any expectations for BvS. I just want to have fun watching those characters on the screen. And I've been waiting to see Harley's origin in live action for AGES. Probably since late 90s, when I read Mad Love.

Kinda OT

Grace Randolph and Andy Sigmore got into it on twitter.

To those today who told me I was "delusional" re critics agenda against #BatmanvSuperman, take a look:

@GraceRandolph @faith2nyc what agenda? BvS was a sloppy rush job that audiences are fastly losing interest in as well. CW was well earned.

Andy Signore ‏@andysignore 50m50 minutes ago
@GraceRandolph @faith2nyc the fight in CivilWar trumps BvS by like a million... Actual emotional stakes & character build up prove important

Grace Randolph ‏@GraceRandolph 47m47 minutes ago
@hermandhaliwal @andysignore ok so next time a movie wins Best Picture they should laugh in the face of the other nominees?

Andy Signore ‏@andysignore 44m44 minutes ago
@GraceRandolph @hermandhaliwal as a critic, why take our criticism so sensitively? BvS had MAJOR story problems. History will prove this.

Grace Randolph ‏@GraceRandolph 43m43 minutes ago
@andysignore @hermandhaliwal I feel the opposite - history will prove the hater agenda, and that this movie was never given a chance

Andy Signore ‏@andysignore 39m39 minutes ago
@GraceRandolph @hermandhaliwal Not a chance WB has no clue what they're doing. They need a Kevin Feige of their own. A true fan to build DCU

Andy, @andysignore u will NEVER get me to turn on BvS, which I understand is flawed but deeply respect & admire - and many stand with me
This movie spilled so much blood... I'm with Grace on this one.

Yeah, I share the same point of view as Grace.

Everyone I know that I've spoken to about BvS disagrees with the critics and liked/loved BvS. I totally agree with Grace. But on to SS...looks great so far. I really hope batman has a nice supporting role in the film.

Whoohoo you Go Grace!! So agree with her! I already knew critics were going to kiss Civil Wars butt when it came out and I'm proven right! And their saying it's not even the best marvel film but yet still give it Highest of praises but with ours if it's very good to them but doesn't match up to a critics perspective their not afraid too dog it the lowest of ratings. Just sad to see but grace is right, only a matter of time for marvel to go under and DC will have its time! Suicide Squad will be a HUGE step for us you guys I mean to be the first studio to do a complete Villain movie that has the potential to evolve into many Villain solo films alongside the heroes solo films is just Awesome!! we have the hugest potential the like marvel has never seen and will never get to do because of lack of popular villains! Can you imagine a Joker/Harley Quinn duo film?? I'm talking Baddass movie with HUGE Profits

I wish we could anticipate SS without the dark cloud of BvS hanging over our heads, sigh..... (I'm referring to the arguments over BvS, not the film itself).

I'd rather have Ultimate Cut in my blu-ray player right now, so I could watch THE **** out of it, instead of having pointless discussions about how the film didn't please somebody and why.

It would probably do us all some good to keep as much of the "non Suicide Squad" stuff out of here. First of all the Mods will only take it so long and lets be honest, it doesnt take much for these threads to derail.

There was just a new trailer, there is tons of excitement and we are only a few months away lets enjoy it. Let the BvS vs CW/Marvel vs DC/conspiracy stuff stay where it belongs. :)

Just my $.02 :)

Honestly when I have that Bluray copy, I will abandon the BvS forums and visit the JL forum less frequently (because all the BvS madness will move there). Once I have that copy, I will go to bed with the copy by my side like a teddy bear. I don't care if I am a grown man.

I think I am going to visit this thread more frequently than the others for the next few months. Suicide Squad is the next DC film, hoping for its success.

Oh boy. Screen Junkies. They made all of those Honest Trailer stuffs didn't they?
I was watching some of those and what hit me the most is GoTG one.
Why can't they praise that movie without throwing massive shade at DC?

I won't watch their inevitable BvS one.
And their SS one.
If Suicide Squad is a success, I expected BvS and Snyder s***ing in there.

And cheers for Grace.

Isn't Grace Randolph the one who shat on MOS?

Isn't Grace Randolph the one who shat on MOS?

She's the one who thinks Suicide Squad's Joker and Harley are WB/DC's answer to Frozen, Brats Dolls and a Disney channel movie. I think that says it all.

It's in Midway City. Doesn't have to take place in Gotham. The Joker is there, which means Batman isn't far behind.

I think Batman chasing the Joker/Harley scenes take place in a Gotham flashback. The Suicide Squad mission takes places in Midway City.

I don't think it's a flashback. Flashback is Harley origin.

I think he'll show up only in the end. Like a cherry on top. Oh, you think this movie is awesome ? Here's Batman for ya to finish it off with a bang! :D

This movie is part of the DCU (re)launch. Batman will appear even at the end to set a connection with JL and the Batman solo movie.

My theory is the opening of the movie is a sort of montage of Batman capturing all the criminals.
Something is rotten in Gotham and Batman is taking out the trash!

I want Batman to step out of the shadows in Waller's office at the end of the movie and at the end of it say something to the effect of "I'll be watching" before slinking back into the shadows and disappearing.
