Weird to hear that Leto was disappointing. I enjoyed what little we saw of his performance in the trailers; take away those dreadful tattoos and clothes and it's nearly the exact Joker I wanted to see.
Still hoping Batman punches those tattoos right off. :funny:

Shouldn't Joker be a LITTLE hammy though?

I think so, but Ledger's dark anarchist is the freshest on people's minds and one of the best performances in cinematic history. So I can understand why some folks might have trouble acclimating to Leto's gangster showman.

I wasn't a fan of the tattoos in the pics or trailers, especially that dreaded "damaged" one, but for some reason in the context of the movie, I feel like it fit really really well. I'd go so far now as to say I even liked them.

I'll give him a chance, but it's a bummer hearing how much of his material was cut out.
I'm hoping that when I do finally see it I'll be able to just sit back and be entertained. That's all it would take for me to give it a pass at this point.

Are you sure you weren't in my same row, bro? Haha. Same here. An entire row of teenage girls who giggled and cackled at every chance they got. I know one thing, this is going to be a major hit within' that age bracket. Tons of teens in my showing and the entire row behind me yelped at the ending. It's going to test well with them.

I refuse to go to another late showing pg-13 movie. The teenagers drive me up the wall.

Oh my god It's finally happened, I'm a boring adult! :wow:

We are all getting old when we start talking about those darn teenagers. :funny:

I am right there with you all. :O

Oh yeah I forgot El Diablo. He was another one of my favorites.

About the joker, I actually think Leto was great , the material was awful. If he had been given another story he would have killed it. The Joker was the biggest disappointment for me :(
I was actually ashamed for telling people for months "I bet Jared is gonna be great! "
Yeah, the material let both Jared and Margot down. Not the other way around. They did the best they could. Thankfully it wasn't the actors fault, there's a lot of potential for both of them in the future. But Harley's arc was clearly mangled in the film.

I also really liked that he wasn't the main villain. His storyline would've been fine if they didn't cut so much- He should've had more of a presence for sure. As in just causing a lot more chaos than he ended up causing. But performance wise I thought he was absolutely fantastic.

Overall I think the vibe around here is considerably more pleasant than it was when BvS opened, meaning that more are pleased with the final film. Maybe I'm mis-reading things but that's encouraging.

Mark Hamill plays my favorite Joker. There is good hammy and there is bad hammy.

Oh, what was he up to? A big talker, kicking the seat, etc?

At least you enjoyed it in spite of the annoying teen.

I feel bad saying it but I think the poor kid had tourette's syndrome. Repeatedly made commentary during the movie, was very audible about everything.

Just got out of the film, and had some time to digest the movie during my drive home. Overall - 7/10 (I should also preface that I had quite possibly the most annoying teenager in the world right behind my wife and I... my gawd was he awfully annoying). I didn't love it, but I enjoyed it. The movie wasn't a masterpiece, and anyone going into the movie shouldn't be expecting to see the second coming of Citizen's Kane.

Having said that, the movie was a solid summer action comedy. My theater absolutely ate it up. They laughed at all the jokes, a few ooo's and ahh's when they saw the joker for the first time, people gave the movie an applause once it ended, etc.

PROS
- Will Smith was a complete badass as Deadshot. This was Will Smith at his finest. His jokes were on point, and his character's motivations were clear throughout the movie.
- Harley Quinn was awesome. What a great job! I honestly think she was born to play HQ.
- Cool fight scenes
- Fun DC cameos/worldbuilding
- Great soundtrack

CONS
- Villain was truly awful. Still not as bad as Malekith, the Mandarin, or Ronan.
- Final act was kind of lame, and felt like something I watched at the end of one of my childhood 90's movies.
- Still not sure what my final verdict is on the Joker

Like I said, 7/10. It was entertaining as hell. Still can't believe how it's being savaged by critics... unbelievable.
Sorry to hear that.
Nothing more annoying than someone who won't let you enjoy the movie.

I went into this kind of annoyed of the studio pulling out Leto's parts, but in the context of this film, it actually worked for me to my surprise. I think the timing of his scenes were great and the thought of him being more of a background character in the entire film made his presence even more creepy to me that made me more excited to see a full length feature one day of his Joker. What I loved about it is that this was HARLEY'S time and Ayer proved that point quite early. This film could afford that since I couldn't stop smiling from ear to ear once Margot was on screen. She was a delight in the role.

Also, Will Smith's Deadshot was phenomenal and Smith brought what was neccasary for the DCEU to strive. It was HIS Deadshot that made me excited for a potential showdown with Batfleck, NOT the same 'ol; same 'ol Joker setup. Again, a refreshing realization in the movie. Batflecks scene with Deadshot was like licking icing out of the container. So good.

I think its more pleasing to the fans specifically than BVS because it stays true to the characters that everyone loves. But on a movie making level, total mess. Which is SUCH a shame because I could literally SEE it all right there in front of me. Which makes it all the more frustrating.

Mark Hamill plays my favorite Joker. There is good hammy and there is bad hammy.

It was a little depressing hearing him in Killing Joke, don't get me wrong he nailed it as always but he's just sounding older and tired.

We really do need a live action Hamill sound alike

Give it a shot, in my personal opinion. I feel like I walked into this movie trying to find any reason to hate it, and I left feeling glad that I didn't, even with all its bad editing at times. Its the 2nd best movie in the DCEU, could've topped MOS if it weren't for just a few things.

Leto was really quite bad in my opinion. I can kinda understand why they cut a lot of his scenes.

Alright! I paid for MOS and BvS. Might as well go for this. I don't want to hate it but given my personal history, I tend to agree with Rotten Tomatoes about 97% of the time. Hope this falls in the 3%.

It's hard to explain. They best I say is that it felt like an actor trying to play the Joker instead of being the Joker.
Talking about this a week or two back on here, this is what I am afraid of. Snow mentioned that from the footage he felt like a drama student in high school.

The things I would do to see the two versions that were screened a few months ago...
