People need to realize that b***ing at critics is not gonna make them change their minds or review your movies differently

i dont think they are trying to change thier minds they probably dont give a crap and are proud of thier movie

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Ryan Gosling offered the Joker role but passed?

Wonder how that would have turned out..

The more interesting one is that Jared Leto passed up Dr. Strange for this..

Back when we got the Comicon 2015 footage, I remember being worried that they were just being sent to deal with the Joker. I was like "Oh..." Then I saw theories about a villain from the Suicide Squad comics I didn't expect to see on film and then I was like "Aaaaaah!"
:(

I would NEVER want to tell someone else how they should feel, that's why I don't generally like most critics

Even though the Squad isn't in hell fighting the Incubus I hope Boomerang does get stinking drunk.

Are critics really telling people how to feel? It really is no different the anyone else giving their opinion. Take it, leave it. Basically what you do with it is up to you.

Even one of the critics said that while he didn't like the movie the rest of the audience loved it. If he were trying to tell the audience what to do then he would probably say that everyone hated it.

I won't name names but there are most definitely some critics out there who want to act like thier word is the gospel, and if we support films they don't like then we are some how apart of some bigger problem.

Like I said not ALL critics, just most

This is definitely a thing. Not all critics are created equal. :funny:

Okay fine I'll level with you. Most critics are INFLUENCING how you should feel.

Unless your easily swayed that's not even true either.

But we're gonna just go round and round with this one...

Look around this board, nothing but doom and gloom for a movie most of you haven't even seen yet. You can't tell me that's not proof that critics can influence your feelings

Lol that's definitely true for a few people in here. Thankfully most are of the opinion to see the show first and form their own ideas of it.

It is up to you whether you want to be influenced or not.
I think it is fair to say this. How critics view a film influences me in that it can effect my expectations.

I was hyped for a year for Fury Road. But if it was the same movie but critics hadn't liked it, I would have been less hyped going in. But I am fully confident I would have loved it the way I do now. That is what happened with me and MoS. My expectations were lowered, but I ended up loving it, even though the critics were split.

It's influencing the hype level. the discussion about how the audience might react, and how it will affect the DCEU

I think that depends on if you agreed with the critics before or not.

I dont really think people are thinking consciously or subconsciously: "Oh critics liked/disliked this. Now I know how I feel about the movie"

Most critics are there to give a recommendation to their readers/viewers as to whether it is worth investing their time and money into going to see a particular film.

Their bread and butter is new releases, but a lot also like to talk about older films to bring them to the attention of modern viewers.

They have influence only in the sense that the best ones have (as well as critics collectively as a group such as the case of Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic) have become trusted by audiences due to their good track records. They don't really influence whether people like a particular movie. But they can influence whether people bother with a movie at all.

That I will agree with
