I think the final fight was part of the re-shoots. The lighting during that fight scene made everyone a silhouette so we couldn't see their faces. It was probably done because not all the actors were involved to do the re-shot scene. This gif is from the ballroom blitz trailer and it looks like the fight was originally going to be different and not just tons of close ups in fast motion.

In a recent interview with Empire, Ayer confirmed what many of us already suspected.

This is sort of my personal thing and maybe less about a larger connection. But Joker killed Robin and Batman basically smashes his teeth out and locks him up in Arkham Asylum. It’s in the asylum where Joker would have done the ‘damaged’ tattoo as a message to Batman saying, 'You’ve damaged me. I was so beautiful before and now you’ve destroyed my face.' That’s where the grill comes from.

Between this and the Harley/Joker stuff being cut, it sounds like they had the worst ****ing test audiences ever.

Instead of introducing these characters organically, we'll introduce seven characters in quick succession with a cavalcade of text, quick clips and narration. That won't confuse anyone at all. I'm pretty sure over half of the audience missed the Robin reference in Harley's introduction because it's almost like the subliminal message in Fight Club.

Interestingly enough, it seems to be reflective of how broader audiences are currently responding to the film. That's why WB went with this inferior 'dossier' cut in the first place -- to appeal strictly to casual moviegoers. Critics and hardcore fans like us make up only a small portion of their target demographic.
