Not many people still discussing SS. Funny how much debate there was for so long after BvS left theaters, I don't think any superhero film has sparked so much discussion and debate, except maybe Dark Knight Rises.


Anyways, I actually watched SS for the second time, and appreciated it much more. I still think there are a lot of issues and problems with the storytelling, and it could've used s major overhaul, but the final act in particular (starting with the bar scene) connected with me a lot more on second watch. I thought the final battle wasn't bad, and some of the character arcs had a little more of an emotional impact. That's not to say I think it's a great film, just admitting that I may have been a bit harsh on it on my initial reviews. It's probably as good as the second tier Marvel and X films in my opinion

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the seven finalists for this year’s makeup and hairstyling Oscar, and Suicide Squad made the cut!

Variety reports that the Academy will watch 10-minute clips from each movie on January 7th, and then nominate three of the seven movies for finale Oscar consideration.

The "dress up" scene only serves to continue over-sexualizing Harley Quinn's character. There's literally no purpose in having her getting dressed in front of everyone, much less being watched by everyone on sight.

Harley Quinn is awesome, yes, but in many ways the New 52 has ruined her.

Happens in Batman fight as well. Its a close up of Deadshot with his gun pointed at Batman. Right afterwards he still has a hat on. Then his hat gets knocked off and then they show Deadshot with gun again.

Looking back, why the hell is Killer Croc constantly licking himself and his clothes? I don't recall ever seeing a crocodile (or the character himself) exhibit such behavior. Talk about out of place....

I was watching the Special Features for the film tonight and learned something that I hadn't previously known and that I find incredibly cool, which is that Cara Delevingne, Karen Fukuhara, Jai Courtney, and Jay Hernandez earned Yellow Belts in Kenpo Karate during the course of and as a result of the training they and the other actors underwent for the film.

Having been able to confirm that the four actors were learning American Kenpo Karate, a form of the martial art created by a man named Ed Parker (whom I actually had an opportunity to meet as a result of my dad's longtime interest in and involvement with the discipline) the fact that they were able to earn full Yellow Belts in a period of time that was, I believe, less than 6 months is extremely impressive, particularly since I myself have first-hand experience with and knowledge of the forms and techniques that a person is required to learn and master in order to achieve the rank of Yellow Belt (again thanks to my dad) even though, in the overall scheme of American Kenpo, said belt is fairly low-ranking, and only increases my appreciation for the film and the people involved in it.
