Supergirl Supergirl General Discussion Thread - - - Part 12

And now Superman is unable to do so that easily?

Yes. Melissa went through it for 4 years while Tyler got it right off the bat. Of course they likely realize that it just looks stupid though and wanted an outfit that looked good and he has to deal.

Ya but too bad supergirl is being canceled by the CW network, amongst black lightning. Here's the total scoop....

2021-22 TV Season: Every Broadcast Show Canceled, Renewed and Ordered – So Far (Updating)

I think it's more Benoist wanting to move on from the Supergirl role, rather than a network cancellation. As she has shown, she is more than willing and ready to do far more diverse roles and in different media.
Shame, as I wish they were in some way rebooting the show rather than ending it.

Why did Kara have to get those cape clasps? It's like Supergirl and Superman swapped the quality of their capes.

Blame Lena. She made this suit.

She could've worn the red skirt over the current blue jump suit, or even the red underwear like Superman traditionally has. That would break up the blue.

Granny-panty or bikini-cut..? Just curious.:cwink:

Have to say, though I like the full suit, it doesn't 'say' Supergirl. It 'says' Superwoman. Which would have been a more logical progression of her superhero name cause, despite how Kat Grant reasoned it, she has never been a girl on this show. Clearly, all woman! In that case, the full suit works, whereas the title of the shows calls for the more youthful skirt.

Superman’s new suit was made by a different (expensive) costuming house who used a lighter material for his cape. The capes on SG are too heavy for the actors to be constantly wearing in between takes, which is why Melissa had to wear a fully constructed corset underneath her old suit to hold it. It’s bad for their backs. The cape clasps are just more practical for them.

For the final season I would like them to tie up some loose ends from previous seasons. One big one would be getting Calista Flockhart back as Cat Grant and for Kara to finally trust her with her secret identity or for Cat to reveal that she does know.

There's no reason she shouldn't be able to tell her now. She's not really working directly for Cat anymore so she could let her in on the secret. And Kara should learn from having kept it a secret from Lena all this time.

On the subject of cape clasps

I see that Wanda's cape seems to have cape clasps, at least on the Hot Toys figure:

She doesn't have any visible pieces to attach it to on her bare shouldered look though which is how she appeared at the end of the finale:

But I think that the cape clasps here might only be on the Hot Toys figure, because the cape she wore at the very end was attached to a hood, so didn't seem to require any clasps. I didn't see any, but it was a brief shot though.

At least it doesn't look as horrible as the old Superman or current Supergirl cape clasps. But it does seem to be a huge cape brace that fits over her shoulders and blends in with the costume.

Not one, but TWO "Prom"-titled episodes in a show with exactly zero high school characters certainly has me intrigued, lol.

I'm sure episode 5 is a flashback and the episode Chyler probably directed. Curious about episode 6 though.

Oh I hadn't heard we were getting another Midvale ep. I wonder if they got those actresses back from last time. They were great.

It would be great if we had more Midvale episodes with Kara and Chyler. And of course we want those same actresses as them otherwise it's not worth having the episodes. I wonder though if it will be present day Kara reliving her prom night as past Kara, a bit like Quantum Leap, except that Melissa wouldn't take over the part but they'd show the younger actress.

I could have sworn it was more or less confirmed somewhere but I can't seem to find anything.

I think one of the two actresses from last time posted something about being in Vancouver.

I believe it'll be a two parter with both actresses returning

Isn't Dreamer already a character in DC comics?
Nia Nal isn't

I know they’re highly unreliable but Spoiler TV thinks the first seven episode titles are Supergirl - Season 6 - First 7 Episode Titles Revealed

Supergirl - Episode 6.01 - Rebirth
Supergirl - Episode 6.02 - A Few Good Women
Supergirl - Episode 6.03 - Phantoms of the Opera
Supergirl - Episode 6.04 - Lost Souls
Supergirl - Episode 6.05 - Prom Night
Supergirl - Episode 6.06 - Prom Again!
Supergirl - Episode 6.07 - Fear Knot

If true the title of the first episode makes sense because of the unintended Brainy’s dying cliffhanger. I expect it will wrap up what would’ve happened in S5E20. We know from I believe Chyler and Nicole that they were nearly done with what would’ve been S5E20. I’m curious how much of that footage was useable either in S5E19 or S6E1.

I heard rumors about two young Danvers sisters episodes. If true it would be a fan approved way to have Melissa light time. It would also fit with the rumor that episode six is the one Chyler directed.

If true I really want “Phantoms of the Opera” to involve Melissa singing.

This plus what the reliable Supergirl.TV said make me say plausible.

I heard Melissa isnt in 6.5/6.6, guessing those were definitely part of the episodes they shot first.

Izabela Vidovic and Olivia Nikkanen were spotted together in Vancouver Decemberish. There would really be no reason for that besides Supergirl. I wouldn’t want a flashback episode(s) with others playing Kara and Alex. Over the summer Helen Slater said she’s scheduled to appear in season six, I’d bet she’s in these too.

Agreed all the bits of rumors are agreeing with each other.

Kara and Alex will probably just be watching Cat's talk show on TV or something.

EDIT: Ok scratch that, I just read the article. She's getting a whole subplot?? Sorry, but unless present day Cat Grant returns to be a regular, a "backstory" for a character who hasn't been a lead on this show for over 4 seasons now feels like wildly unnecessary filler to me, especially with this being this show's final, shortened season. The focus should be on the lead characters more than ever now, dammit.

And yes, I get that Melissa was on maternity leave, but that doesn't change my assessment.

I would think Cat Grant coming back would have been announced by now if that was the case too. I really hope we're not getting a two parter that's just complete filler.

Agreed. Especially if we're getting a younger Cat and it doesnt involve her time at the Daily Planet w/Lois and Clark? To me...its a waste. More of Cat post-Daily Planet, we had that for a year and some change, not interested in more of it.

I mean, I'd be interested in more post-Daily Planet Cat if Calista came back. Because I'd love to see her and Kara finally be open with each other and acknowledge that Cat knows the truth. But that's literally the only reason I can think of to bring her back. Otherwise, yeah, a waste.
