Supergirl Supergirl General Discussion Thread - - - Part 12

Oh good! I like Sara Lance and Adam, but the rest... They feel like filler.

EDIT: Primal beat me to the Sunday/Charmed promo.

Glad to hear the Legends are sitting this crossover out. As I said on that board, the last act of these crossovers always feel bloated to me, largely because the rest of the Legends cast that had been sitting out the previous episodes suddenly show up for their glorified cameos.

I'd prefer fewer supporting cast members in these crossovers in general, tbh. Give me one with just Kara, Ollie and Barry on Warworld or something. One where they actually have to interact and get to know each other on some level. I think that's why I liked the musical crossover more than the others: it gave Kara and Barry quality time together for actual bonding and character development (even if I didn't care for that particular character development, lol).

Also for the record, I don't think this move to Sundays will be good for the show, ratings-wise. CW tried Sundays before, and it tanked. The only way they might have a shot at not tanking is if they put their flagship show (Flash) there, imo. They already hurt SG's ratings with the hiatus, it's not in the position of strength on the CW's line-up that it once was.

I think Reba launched CW Sundays and did pretty well there actually so I think they have the possibility to do fine in the slots, especially since a lot of the bigger shows that are on Sundays have been losing steam.

Yeah I am fine with LoT sitting it out and I think we are at a point with the crossovers where different characters need to feature more apart from Barry/Oliver/Felicity/Cisco.

The thing with Legends of Tomorrow is that it's already a crossover series in itself since it features characters from both Flash and Arrow.

This ^, as it is so super hero heavy in itself. That is a lot of heroes to film.

It's also one of the ones I don't watch, along with Arrow so trimming the crossover down is good in that respect. I like Flickchick's idea of doing a crossover with just the three main players, and four now with Batwoman finally coming along. Or would it still be three with Arrow possibly ending...?

Maybe even have Superman included to give him more air time.

But the smaller crossover when Barry first went to E38 and met Kara is still my favorite crossover of them all. Smaller cast, more personal interactions and it just felt lighter.

In the Invasion crossover, only Supergirl appeared out of her series but her show was left out.

Now it's Legends of Tomorrow's turn to be left out as well.

The only thing that should involve all four shows is cosmic threats involving the Multiverse or the Hypertime.

Supergirl was left out because she was unexpected. It's a bit different. Not that I mind them being left out.

As they started filming the 4th season, there are some bts pics of Lena Luthor and Agent Liberty.

That's Katie McGrath.

I couldn't even tell. Not even from the eyes.

She should've been more prominent, in place of one of those others like the guy on the left of Brainy.

Or Mechad shouldn't have stuck his big head in the way.

Good lord, it's just a selfie, lol. It's not an organized professional photo.

BTW, Jesse Rath is currently running the @supergirlcw Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/supergirlcw/

Or he was. Think he's a bit busy at the moment.

So David Ajala just got cast as Manchester Black...and I have no idea who that is in Superman lore, but I do like David Ajala from his work on Falling Water, so nice to see him here.

He's the leader of the Elite, man-made meta-humans selling a different brand of justice than the Supers. Featured in Action Comics #774 ("What's So Funny About Truth, Justice and The American Way"), and the animated film, Superman vs. The Elite.

So those casting sides rumors were spot-on.

Also, it sounds like Kara's doppelganger won't be the main threat 'til later in the season because they want to do a nature vs. nurture thing and give us glimpses of her experiences in Russia, and she's getting a costume that makes her look like either a member of Daft Punk or the Power Rangers.

And Lynda Carter's coming back.

Yay, Lynda Carter’s coming back. I wonder if President Marsdin is The American Alien the season four premier title refers to. Could be some friction between the President and new director Danvers. Both sisters have disobeyed Presidential orders and now J’onn’s not there to take the blame if they do it again.

It makes sense to me production wise to cover the doppelgänger’s face so Melissa doesn’t have to do too much double duty at least filming against herself. It also makes sense to put that double duty off for later when Melissa isn’t playing catch up. It’ll be kinda like Savatar on Flash except the audience will know who she is the whole time.

Having Nia/Nal at Cat Co is a good way to get more reporter Kara. Nicole Maines is young 20/21, Wikipedia only lists a birth year as 1997. She also doesn’t have much acting experience so it will be sink or swim with this exceptional cast. I honestly think Amy Jackson’s acting ability was one reason Saturn Girl wasn’t explored more. With this cast weak acting quickly becomes painfully obvious. Jesse Rath was able to keep up with Melissa from the first knock on Kara’s mind loft.

Trailer w/ mostly old footage, but teases of Agent Liberty and Daft Punk Girl:

The armor is the doppleganger?

And Agent Liberty is going to be portrayed exactly as I thought. Still, always fun to see Sam Witwer.

Sam Witwer and Meaghan Rath's brother both on the same season... Bring in Sam Huntington's mom and that's really quite a Being Human reunion.

Also, it's clear to me now that Leanne Aguilera's "they're not doing press" comment really meant "they're not doing press with ME," because the cast did plenty of interviews before and after the panel today.

Who's that in the top row on Katie McGrath's right? (EDIT: Never mind - it's Nicole Maines.)
