Supergirl Supergirl General Discussion Thread - Part 7

I think it's after they've had a fight with Metallo, Superman's suit looks particularly dusty.

It is not. Peanuts and leaning towers, remember? :o

Are they limiting the news because they're hiding something major or are they limiting the news for some other reason?

I could understand the lack of news on the big move up to Vancouver, but now they're there, then the no news is... strange.

I think they're hiding something big. Flash/Arrow/LoT all have trailers showing footage from the first episode of the season but SG's was all S1 stuff. Something major happens in the opening episode.... and i'm really, really intrigued as to what it might be.

Yeah, but even if something major did happen, surely they can cut together a teaser trailer that doesn't reveal anything? Just something of Supergirl and Superman in action together. Doesn't even have to be very long.

I really don't think they're hiding anything. They just started production later than the other shows so naturally their trailer will come a bit after theirs. I still think it's imminent, though.

Extreme possibility: Superman is being introduced... in order to be killed off!

But as noted, this wouldn't impinge on the trailers or promo materials (which would, obviously, conceal this major spoiler). :word:

I really like this suit but who thought that belt was a good idea? What the hell

Honestly, it was a suggestion people have made a lot for Henry Cavill's suit. Basically, the red belt helps mirror the red "underwear" of his traditional costume and helps break up the blue.

I agree that something has yo break up the blue and I think the Cavill via time with the buckle and black piping stuff does it a lot better. However I think the belt here serves a secondary function as I don't believe the suit is one piece.

I understand why they chose a red belt but the actual design of this one is deplorable. A red belt is fine. This is just a terribly designed one

It's really grown on me recently, but I do find it I'd done if the designs these people land on.

You know obe thing I'm truly happy with though, Coleen Atwood fibalky got to do the Superman costume. She said during Superman Lives it was the one costume she wanted to do but she didn't get to finish. Now she's finally got to see one through to the end and elements of it are the best I've ever seen.

Anyone remember that old cartoon "Mighty Mouse"? That often had a lot of musical elements to it with MM sometimes singing as he flew. It was almost like an opera.

I wonder if the musical episode will be anything like that with Kara singing while she's flying to the rescue or even fighting off a villain.

"Here I am to SAAAAVE THEEEE DAAAAY"!

That seems to be done as more of a proper song than it was in the actual cartoons. The cartoon had a real throwback feel to the old 1930s/ 40s Fleisher Superman, probably because it was made in the 1940s.

That is the theme song that I heard my entire childhood as I watched the cartoon every morning before school.

When you hear him say, here I am to save the day...that is exactly what he did every episode.

I know he did that, but they didn't do the full song in the cartoon like here. They just had snippets of it here and there. Here it's like a full proper song that someone went back and recorded.

Sounds like the theme song I heard every morning...

It's just the beginning and end themes put together.

Also, Supergirl is probably the heaviest CGI show of the lot. Could be that the marketing-useful "wham shots" just aren't done yet.

 They started filming 3 weeks after the others...and there has been plenty of news, just not a trailer. Hang in there I have a feeling we will be getting a big time trailer in a few weeks.

they started 3 weeks later? Didn't know that, had assumed they all started around the same time.

the lack of trailer makes sense now then.

Supergirl didn't start filming until July 25th.

Another reason for the lack of a "Season 2" footage trailer is the fact that, up until a week or so ago, the show had little footage to actually show, given that their shooting schedule is longer than any of the other series (10 days compared to 8 days for the rest of the shows).

How come we never see any set pics of Melissa in a harness hoisted up by a crane for the flying sequences?

Like this, perhaps? This was from the recent CW promo. (Courtesy Melissa Benoist Daily on Tumblr)

Ok. I've never seen that before. Thanks.
