Supergirl Supergirl Season 1 Episode 5 - "Livewire" MAJOR SPOILERS

well she got trapped inthe negative zone cause her ship went near fortraz and there the usual thing scientist[s have been pushing in reall ife whichusualy make it into sci-fi

that if you have a set of twins and one is sent traveling in space and one is on earth if the one from space return will look like they did when they left but only a few months older while the one on earth would have gae to the point that they look like their twins grand parent this was show with the stargate SG1 and sanctuary star Amanda tapping on the discovery channel with the geriatric version of her self giving her younger self "the finger" when one from space returned.

Any way with super girl they are likely trying to push this same thing. but the added to the fact that kara got caught in with fort Raz and he delayed her flight course.

I'm aware it's not what you want to hear but it's likely what they are pushing.

I HATE how Kara keeps referring to the women that raised her as her foster mother and calling her by her first name, Eliza. For all intents and purposes, she is her mother and this diminishes her role and IMO disrespectful.

She was 12/13 when her mother died. Calling someone else her mother would be disrespectful to her mother (at least in her mind). It's not like she never knew her.

So Win is interested in Kara? I kind of assumed he was gay

Didn't he ask her on a date in the first episode?

Another inconsistency. It was established in the pilot that Kara left Krypton when she was 12 but in this episode she says that her parents died when she was 13.

The narrated chronology in the pilot was a bit wonky. (“Twenty-four years ago…” would actually be ~36 years ago.) But young Kara’s stated age was 13 - so no inconsistency there.

I think this case really just depends on the person and the situation. I've seen stepchildren call their step mother's and father's by their first names as well and it doesn't diminish the role or affection for they have for their step parents . I've never seen foster family dynamics , but I imagine it probably isn't all that uncommon in those situations either, especially when the kids are a bit older like Kara was. I personally didn't see it as disrespectful at all.

There is clearly a mother daughter dynamic between Kara and Eliza and clearly alot of affection and love, so her having to call her "Mom" wasn't needed for me . If anything I found Eliza disrespectful and rude to her own daughter, and Eliza was the character that I found unlikable coming out of the episode.

Did you watch the pilot or the other episodes? :cwink:

Her line is "When I arrived, I was still a 13 year old girl."

Winn asks her out in the first 5 minutes of the pilot, and has made it clear in every episode since that he wants to date her. Not sure why you would make that assumption...

She did not age in the Phantom zone "A region in space where time doesn't pass" where she was at for 24 years she didn't age, so when she arrived she was 13, and 12 years later she would be 25. Which is the age she is in the series. So when she arrives she is 13, and Superman is around 25. 12 years later where the series picks up, she is 25 and he is around 36-37 years old.

Ooooh, yes! Burst out laughing at that one.

Hope Livewire comes back at some point, she could be like Deadshot in Arrow.

This ep definitely suffered from not having the previous one aired while I watched. The show is starting to find its stride, but I'm not 100% on it just yet.

I don't think it suffered much in terms of continuity, but probably did in viewership....

I think that if the episodes had been aired in their original order,
Livewire followed by the Red Tornado and Jemm episodes,
We could be looking at a triple home run ratings wise.
It's not too late for a double though!

We'll see but I think Red Faced might be my low point...BUT BASED ON THE TRAILERS ONLY, except for the scene with Cat and her uptight mother and Cat and Kara's relationship being very much tested when Kara blows up. And yes there is the moment where Supergirl goes postal. BUT...things have a way of changing.

One thing in the show's favor...no more DWTS. BUT...there is the 50th Anniversary of A Charlie Brown Christmas on ABC this Monday. Given the box office success of The Peanuts Movie, this might carry over to ABC.

I just finished watched Livewire, my god this show is getting better. Britt Morgan was superb, she was fantastic in the role really reminded me of the Superman TAS version (minus the annoying voice) much better than the Smallville incarnation that's for sure.

It was great yo finally see Dean Cain as a full presence. Those flashbacks were really intriguing. I am really interested to see what Henshaw's motives are, I get the feeling he is all about protecting people himself but he doesn't go the way of people like Kara or Alex.

Lastly, I am so glad I decided to watch the episodes the originally intended way around because I felt 'Livewire' was a slight improvement over 'How Does She Do It' (which I thought was a great episode).

I would rank it something more like a 9.2 (and last weeks a solid 9) but seen as though I can't I have to vote 9.

[*]Didn't Kara say in the pilot that she wasn't sure if she could fly? Why would she think that if she was able to do so at

I thought the same thing actually at the time but then I doubted myself, did she say in the pilot she wasn't sure if she could fly or wasn't sure if she could still fly?

She said she thinks she still could but hadn't done it in a long time. I think she meant more manoeuvring rather than actual flying though.

Ahh good enough for me and even if it had been a retcon wouldn't have really bothered me in all honesty. Just when I heard the line it made me think.

Oh no she definitely said she hadn't done it in a long time and that's why she was unsure. It wasn't a retcon or anything like that.

Yeah, I figured ABC might do something like that, Goshdarnit!

Well how this works is it will be a special program at 8/7 called "It's your 50th Christmas Charlie Brown." It includes interviews with stars as well as a look at the iconic music which made this special a classic. Then at 9/8 it's A Charlie Brown Christmas, edited for tons of commercials to fit into a one-hour block. Well I have A Charlie Brown Christmas on DVD (the ULTIMATE in on demand) so I can watch it anytime. Now I thought it would be reversed.
