The 'boys are back in town' theme song at the end was perfect.

I thought it was a poor choice, a cliched song done to death. It's cringe inducing to hear at this stage, and that's an Irishman saying that! :cwink: They should have ended with that song from the trailers, by Shinedown or whatever.

I agree with you there. I didn't hear that song at all during that movie. Thats the song that should have ended the film

I love Thin Lizzy so hearing the song at the end of the film didn't bother me since I'm a huge dual guitar freak. :yay:

Well, not many of the actors in the Expendables could really act, so we shouldn't expect more out of the actresses either. I think they should just have an eye candy and add some estogen in the mix to balance it out a little. Maybe Brooklyn Decker? :awesome:

Speaking of eye candy, wasn't Mickey Rourke's first girl a porn star? I could have sworn I saw her on Bang Bros before under the Milf section.

Hahaha! I used to watch those all the time a few years ago.

Lol, she did look familiar!

I'm sure there were alot of cameos in there, here and there. I saw two MMA PRIDE/UFC fighting champions ,the Noreiga twins, in there as soldiers in quite a few scenes....

I did to until they started to allow you to watch only 3 free clips. Once you see 3 of them, you are not allowed to see any more. Same with Brazzers! WTF!! They are hurting themselves! :argh:

So I confirmed it? :cwink:

Blasphemer. That song is the 1980's, and its inclusion only cemented the theme of all of them together in one flick. Begone!!!! :argh:

So saw it last night and I absolutely loved it. I love sensless killing movies like this. It was really fun. Some of the cgi was pretty bad but the movie was so badass I overlooked it.

Oh, and Dolph was scary as hell.

My (refined) idea for a sequel:

The Expendables - Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone), Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), Yin Yang (Jet Li), Hale Ceasar (Terry Crews), Toll Road (Randy Couture), Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren) and Clay Jackson (Dwayne Johnson) - are hired by a mysterious man know as John Crawford (Liam Neeson) to travel to Vietnam and free a small village from a group of drug dealers. However, once they arrive, the Expendables find out they have been set up by Crawford and are framed by the deaths of the 60 villagers. Their fingerprints are planted everywhere and video footage of them slaying innocents has been forged and send to all the major news stations. They become public enemies.

Knowing that, Mr. Church (Bruce Willis) decides to hire the man that best knows the Expendables - Besides the Expendables themselves - to capture them: Trench (Arnold Schwarzenegger) and his very own team of mercenaries - formed by Anton Lemieux (Jean-Claude Van Damme), Steve Carter (Scott Adkins), Axel Slade (Wesley Snipes), Vic Hammer (Kurt Russel), Will Sanders (James Woods) and Serrucho DaCosta (Danny Trejo).

Besides having to deal with Trench's CIA-backed team, the Expendables must also clear their names and, helped by their trusted aide Tool (Mickey Rourke), protect their loved ones from Crawford's forces.

I don't think that's gonna happen. Michael Biehn and Kurt Russell goddammit!

Sly apparently offered Van Damme the role that ultimately went to Gary Daniels, but he refused because he felt his character had no substance and he did not wanted to lose a fight to Jet Li.

Rumor has it that he has regreted this decision, seeing how much money the movie has made, so, if Sly really invites him for a sequel, I bet he'll do it.

Do you know what pisses me off about this film? I've come across interviews with both Stallone and Lungdren *****ing about the modern day action hero, and their size. Furthermore I think Jet Li was their vehicle in this film in venting their frustration over this issue. Get over yourself lads, your bitterness makes you seem incredibly stupid.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if JCV is now having regrets about taking the role. But, the role that went to Daniels was very thin. I think if it had gone to JCV, then the movie would have been edited to include more scene time for him.

Stone Cold was scary in this movie!

Btw, we should have gotten a Rocky IV type fist fight between Dolph and Stallone!

Sylvester Stallone is apparently planning to turn Bruce Willis' character, Mr. Church, into the sequel's main villain, most likely following the idea that CIA will hunt down the Expendables after they're done in Vilena.

If he really thought that, he wouldnt of had a career, really.

My review
Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) leads a charismatic bunch of mercenaries. This group includes Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), Ross' second in command and expert knife thrower, and Yin Yang (Jet Li), a martial artist with a Napoleon complex. They all have varying skill-sets and personality quirks, but share one characteristic: balls of steel. They are hired by a mysterious "company man" to overthrow a South American dictator who has aligned himself with a rogue CIA agent. But there turns out to be more than money incolced with this mission. It might just be their shot at saving their collective souls.

The Expendables is the action movie to end all action movies. Stallone has gathered the coolest names in action, written them a kick-ass script, and continued to shoot the hell out of it. Right from the get-go, the movie promises to deliver on intense action relying on a number of different disciplines: martial arts, marksmanship, and demolition. And that is just the tip of the iceberg. It boats one of the best and thrilling climatic finales an action movie buff could ask for. With explosions setting off left and right, the one black mark on the entire film is the horrible computer rending of the still burning fire.

The cast is better than to be expected for an action movie. Stallone and Statham are front and center as the two main protagonists. They are both proven talents not just in the arena, but otuside of it as well using their screen presence to their advantage. This pushes Randy Couture and Terry Crews, one of the more charismatic stars, till the end shootout. David Zayas chews a bit of the scenery, but Eric Roberts lightens the mood with his smooth rogue agent. Giselle Itie was surprisingly well-done. The two best actors of the bunch are Mickey Rourke and Bruce Willis, both of whom have very little screentime.

Rourke plays a handler for the gang. He obviously has experience in the field, but his confidence has been dragged through the mud. He gets a very compelling anecdote that poetically drives Barney's moral compass. Bruce Willis plays the mysterious "company man" who hires the boys. To finally see not just Stallone and Willis face off, but to add The Govenator as well, was a sight to see. The machismo filled pissing contest begins and never lets up. Like Deniro and Pacino in Heat and Walken and Hopper in Truce Romance, this face off will go down in the cinematic history books.

The Expendables is a rough and tough action extravaganza that plays to Stallone's creative strengths and the rest of the casts on-screen strengths. This movie knocks the teeth out of the modern action movie in the face, and hopefully sets a new standard. It is far from the perfect movie, but it takes pride in its flaws.

8/10

Hahaha, that's a good poster.

What's the competition for Expendables this weekend? I'm hoping it just falls to number 2 and doesn't drop much. Seems like people I know are going to see it because of word of mouth and the media.

I've noticed it's been trending on Twitter all week as well. Lot of raving for it. And of course, the most talked about topic for it is; of course Terry Crews and his AA-12.

That's certainly going to become a fan favorite scene to alot of people.:hrt:

anyone thinks there is room for Karl Urban or Ray Stevenson in a sequel?

They both would be pretty cool but if I could only choose one it would be Stevenson. Urban is definitley the better actor but I would like to see Stevenson get more roles.
