They'll hate it, bash the s*** out of it and claim it to be a mindless action flick.

The critics from sites like AICN and other fan places will praise it for the greatness that it is....because well, they get it. They get what Sly and the cast are doing with the movie. I hope most critics will see that and not bash it all to hell.

No surprise it's gotten bad reviews from female critics. All the screen reviews where positive. I reckon about 45% RT score.

EDIT: Good god that Empire review was terrible, sure it scores 3/5 but it's so goddamn ageist it's ridiculous. It even attacks Van Damme and Seagal! Then dedicates a very small paragraph to say "It does what it says on the tin". Easily one of the worst "Professional" reviews ever written.

Well, yeah. But so far the only people reviewing it in that context are the average joes from the preview screenings! I'll bet anything it will have aa 7.5 or so IMDb score and a 40's% critical score.

That's what I don't get about a lot of critics, I can't see the point in reviewing a movie like this without using some context and measuring against what it aims to achieve.

Exactly. Why bother putting it up against Inception when you know Inception will poop all over it in quality.

Although one day I'd love to see a cast like this under a Nolan level director. That would be epic. Academy Award Winner Randy Couture.

I'm sure critics will review this film in the same way they reviewed past 80's action films.

Hopefully they get it, but I wouldn't be surprised if alot of them won't. I'm sure they'll use the "If this movie is meant to be brainless and fun, then why is it so bad?" line if they just don't plain like it.

So happy the release isn't far off now, this movie is looking to be epic and one of the highlights of the year. The trailers and TV spots all look incredible.

If it's a true homage to 80's flicks, they will trash it thoroughly and call it a waste and an example of the dumbing down of America. Outside of web reveiws on genre sites, critic reviews should not mean **** when it comes to this film.

That's why I tend to hate living in California sometimes. When you got people picketing for Johannes Mehserle, that's when you know people here are ridiculous.

Can't wait to see this film and i'm glad Bruce and Ah-Nuld have cameos in it.
