The Dark Knight TDK Direct to DVD Prequel

sounds like what they did for the matrix with the animatrix. hmmm i dont like anime, and i dont like "the batman" style, so this may suck. i dunno. when is it suppose to come out?

meh! i'm not a fan of anime. it just lacks heart, and too stylized but not in a way that has any appeal for me. give me a good old bugs or daffy, fliesher studios, tex avery joint any day! i also prefer theamerican art style in comics as well. more diversity. anime bores the eff out of me.

i find anime characters annoying. the line quality sucks, the yappy mouths and voice overs, the annoying animals/mascots, the weepy chics and beads of sweat, hate it hate alll.

i particularly hate when american artist try to ape anime, thinking it's a great combination. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

You're all going to buy this, regardless of the animation style.

And some of you will double-dip. Myself included.

I'm ashamed at how often I double dip. But danged if it isn't always worth it. I'm even looking forward to double dipping on Casino Royale. For Batman, I'd double dip in an instant. I love to say double dip. And to come down really hard on the P with a loud "PUH" ad the end.

I hate all of what you described too, but that's really just a small portion of what's really out there. It's just a medium, same as American animation, with numerous facets to it. I myself only like about probably 5-10% of what's available, but of that percentage I love it.

I will say Ghost In The Shell was cool, and Crying Freeman was a fantastic comic. Mai the Psycic Girl and Lone Wolf and Cub were great comics as well. But the majority of the animation doesn't appeal to me. in retospect, I can think of some nicely drawn comics such as the ones mentioned. and I recall a beautiful book about some assasssin that used the spokes on his bicyce as weapons. so i take back any off the cuff japanese comics comments. but like the cowboy be-bop, vampire hunter d, sailor moon, akira, etc just not into it.

Sailor Moon is awesome! So is Dragonball Z.

Heh... maybe they'll incorporate Bat-Mite into it as Batman's little anime sidekick creature thing.

I hate anime. I don't like the look of it at all. But hey, I personally think most cartoons these days look like crap. Everything looks too stylized, very skinny bodies, big heads and big eyes, etc. I HATE the character designs in The Batman. It looks so ridiculous. A stupid mixture between Anime and American drawn.

I'd never before even imagine buying an anime show on DVD. The only reason I may pick this up is because it's Batman. And if Nolan has nothing to do with it and the film cast don't provide the voices, I probably won't even buy it.

they said the same thing about spiderman 3 though. The same type of thing, theys aid it was a direct to dvd thing, but now they announced its going to be on cartoon network too..

It would suck if its just the people who made the batman, and its the same style as the batman, and well.. basically just the batman on dvd.

I kindof doubt that this anime's gonna be anything like what you all are thinking about. There's more to it than the silly, cartoony stuff. Someone mentioned Animatrix. I thought it was pretty good, animation-wise. It didn't have all the stereotypical things people are talking about here, like sweatdrops and huge eyes and all that.

There's a reason the anime-style was chosen. You guys are too focused on the Pokemon stuff, it's NOT gonna be like that. Christian Bale would probably dub the movie, he's had some anime dubbing experience as Howl in Howl's Moving Castle. It's funny, cuz I saw that and Batman Begins in the theater the same day.=p

I really hope they get the cast from the movie for the anime prequel.

Someone with green hair, completely nuts, and a nice laugh. :woot:

Can you imagine if they treated it like animatrix? a few short stories that explain the timeline between BB and TDK. one on batman, the joker, dent, the mob, scarecrow etc..

CHECK THIS LITTLE BIT OUT

I went to a focus group yesterday in a near by hotel. The topic was animation, specifically anime. We talked about Robotech, Voltron, Akira, Spirited Away, etc. I brought up Anime Erotica.

I brought up how there are plans for an anime version of Batman and from that point on the girl leading the focus grouped continued to ask our opinions of what we thought of them taking an popular American concept and making it anime. Someone else in the group said that it already existed with "The Batman" to which I said was crap and that they turned the Riddler into an emo drag queen (I think I got term from this site).

I found that very interesting and it turned out was whole point of the focus group. They unvelied several titles for this Batman DVD prequel, one being "Batman: The Dark Knight Chronicles"

It turns out it will be one story arc with six episodes all indiviually directed by six different leading directors from Japan.
