the problem is that, yeah the movie made good money overseas. IN the end, this is an American film and in America, it didn't too well. Think about it..it sucks.

I think a sequel is possible but I don't think WB will be involved.

T3 cost like 200 million (it was the most expensive film ever, when it came out) and it only made around 150 million in the states, but its high worldwide gross made was a reason for a sequel. But yeah, this one wont even make 150 in the states so WB might not want to be involved in another one, unless the budget is cut.

WB only had 50 million invested for T3 & T4.

The third and fourth films each required an investment of approximately $50 million from WB for domestic, with Sony paying in the vicinity of $75 million for overseas rights, which became more expensive on the new film because Sony acquired additional territories from Halcyon, including Japan. Those sums are the negative pickup price and do not include P&A, which they put up separately.

T3 actually only cost $150 million to make, but it was back in 2003.

WB should of known better trusting McGeee. Its their own faults.

True that, if an American made movie doesn't do good in America it can't be considered that big of a success.

How could they make a sequel that costs less , would that work?

Simply WB pulls out of domestic distribution and they lend the domestic to Sony for a symbolic amount... I say Sony because it looks like it'll be profitable for them since they're handling the international market and anyways put themselves most of the film's budget...

200 million TS budget minus WB's part would be a 150 million budget... that would amount to Sony putting 100 million for the film and Halcyon the rest...

It doesn't seem like it would be that hard to make the next film cheaper if they plan to do another stupid time travel storyline like McG wants to do. :cmad:

^I havent seen the movie yet, but I think most people want McG FAR away from any next sequel, me included, I havent liked his choice from the start, especially since, IMO, he got the T-600's wrong, and there shouldnt have been daytime scene's when Kyle clearly states in T1 that the humans stay down by day.

I actually would have preferred Mostow directing this, at least he can do characters and action.

In T1 Kyle was from the year 2029 which I would think by then the war has gotten worse thus humans having to lay low during the day. It's just a natural progression of war.

How exactly did McG get the T-600's wrong?

The project angel crap was stupid anyway.

All these sequels were stupid.

Also I blame everyone, not just Halycon or McG. Plenty of blame to go around. WB was who McG was talking about as well last year with regards to the rating.

Also, the R-rating thing was ******** because at PG-13 they failed to draw in the teenagers and adolescents. Most of the audience that did see the movie were adults.

John Conner traveling back would ruin it for me.

Same. McG's plan for the sequel is terrible.

The problem is in TS they say its not safe to go out at night because the machines can spot humans easily with their sensors. There has to be an explanation for why the night becomes preferable to the day.

The war gets worse, that's why the machines stop using their sensors, in good sportsmaship, of course.

Wb would of course want a sequel. the put in 50 million and it's gonna make about 120 million here.. They will have alot of profit on this movie. If anything sony will be the one that won't want to come back and invest...but thats still early. The movie is not a bomb but it's no blockbuster.

Hollywood accounting.

I think you guys are being delusional about the sequel.

I think TheVileOne's right. I don't think Warner Brothers or Sony will invest any money in a Terminator sequel if projected costs are about the same as TS's was ($200 million plus P&A). If it's half that amount, then yeah I can see them doing it.

Plus, they're gonna set ground rules for McG to follow. If Barrandov Studios in Prague can make sets for 2/3's less than what it'll cost in the U.S. or the UK (think Alien vs. Predator), then McG should probably shoot in Europe to cut set construction costs down.

Let's face it. TS underperformed -- if Halycon is lucky maybe after DVD and Blu-ray sales TS will get a sequel. It's either going to happen, or it won't.
