Comics The '07 X-Event: Endangered Species, Messiah Complex, & Disassembled

Just because they don't blow your socks off every issue doesn't mean they suck. Bru's Uncanny issues have mostly been the highlight of this event next to some of the X-Factor issues. He's used the students in a much more badass way than Yost and Kyle could ever dream of doing in their book, and he's made Scott look like a better leader than just about everyone else.

I agree Spec, but I see Cane's point...

But I expect the book has no where to go but up

So is the last issure going to focus entirely on whats going on with Bishop, Cable and everyone there, or do you think it'll be split between them and Muir island?

And the 15 or so issues of crap before those MC issues?

Again, just because they weren't knock your socks off balls to the wall action and shocking developements and cliffhangers does not make them crap. Boring doesn't equal crap.

i was never really that much a fan of Bru's work on Uncanny..if only because he was complaining of not having access to A-listers (cuz Havok, Polaris, Nightcrawler and Rachel Grey not to mention Charles freakin Xavier are such pushovers...then he threw in Darwin, Warpath...and..the Starjammers and Korvus?)
but i only ***** at his *****in. so i'll give him a shot with Uncanny after Messiah, surely he should get one or two A listers to play with, having successfully stranded the ones he didn't like in space.

Well yeah, just look at the first two solicits. He's got Cyclops, Emma, Angel, Colossus, Nightcrawler, and Wolverine all featured heavily at least.

From the solicit of Uncanny #496, seems that the story also takes on two directions as well.

then he should be happy....i wont be though..that cast interests me not at all

That's Whedon's Astonishing. Warren's a higher caliber writer IMO and doesn't have a disturbing pre-occupation with pubescent girls.

I take your point, but I'm lost on that pubescent girls bit . Any idea why AXM wasn't part of MC?

i still blame Ellis for the cancellation of Gen X, X-Man, and X-Force, therefore i hold no breath for Astonishing

Whedon has a strange tendancy to focus all his stories on underaged girls and how awesome they are. It's starting to creep me out, to be honest.

this is true....
like Summer Glau...way too tiny for her hits to hurt

The reviews suggest AXM isn't exactly a masterpiece either.

Um.. AXM seems to have won over the reviews and awards that matter in the industry - and certainly the sales - so just what in the world are you talking about?

So apparently Eisner awards for best continuing series, best inker, among others, just don't matter? I assume Wizard Fan awards also don't matter... Niether do the bags and boards awards... or Eagle awards, right? :whatever: ... I mean I guess being the most nominated book in the last 10 years in the comic industry shouldn't count for anything... right? :whatever:

And also the positive reviews from AICN, ROLLING STONE, IGN, ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY, and LOTS of others should just be ignored.

If you think us fan boys *****ing about not hitting deadlines and lack of continuity somehow equals poor critical reception - then it certainly isn't showing in the fan awards or the sales.

I honestly have no idea what you were getting at in your posts... if you don't like AXM that is one thing but to say it is performing poorly when no evidence supports it is a totally differnet thing.

Lots of us are pissed about the delays and the lack of finding it's place in the world of continuity, but don't insult our intelligence to look up information that is available to everyone.

"Also many large scale events in the Marvel Universe such as House of M, Decimation, Civil War, and other Marvel crossovers have been ignored almost completely during the run, due to the long delays between issues and Whedon's own stated desire to remain away from big cross-overs, which he personally dislikes, and what he saw as hectic and unfollowable X-men continuity. This has not hampered high sales or continuously positive critical reception."

---(Wizard Magazine #165, 2005)

To sum it up, Whedon doesn't like those events and he has a top selling book with high critical reception so Marvel doesn't want to risk losing that.

So, in this latest issue, when Mystique said....

...that she had been making all these choices in her life with the foreknowledge that she and Remy were going to be in that room with Rogue and the baby, does that mean that Mystique forced Remy to become Death? I mean, it was the only way he would have left the Xs, right? And he had to be a Maurader to be in that spot right there, right then. Gambit said he would do anything for Rogue, which I guess means he would have gone through that as well, right? *gags on ROMY angst*

Well, it would make sense since she was following Destiny's plan from the beginning. Carey stated that the only time he's likes Rogue and Gambit together is when they aren't b.i.t.c.h.i.n.g. at each other. So I'm hopeful that he doesn't go that route again.

Of course, for him "not b***ing" means "Gambit being Rogue's b**** without complaint"
