On another note, I never understand when Best Picture and Best Director are not the same. I get it, different categories. It still doesn't make a lick of sense to me.
La La Land won Best director, actress, music, song and cinematography. But not Best Picture?
It caught fire during the award season "preview". When they start telling you what is going to be nominated before anything is nominated. It was a fire "contender", and then blew up in Jan.
Honestly, if you've seen the end of LaLa Land, tonight's ending kind of makes sense.
"Sorry! Sorry! Everyone stop! The actual winner is Bryan Cranston. And Matt Damon. And Michael Fassbender and Eddie Redmayne. A four way tie! Crazy huh, Leo?"

They definitely care. Look at the box office and how tied it is to awards season .I don't think La La Land did huge money throughout the US, but the large hot spots made for these type of Oscar hopefuls. Emma and Ryan definitely helped.Does the regular movie goer really care about that though? I thought the pull for the film was Gosling and Emma together and the musical aspect.
