the 89th Annual Academy Awards - Part 1

You have to feel bad for Faye Dunaway. First major appearance in a while, and you're humiliated.

Many things you could do. But I would hope those reading the winner would actually read what is on the damn card. :funny:

Backstage, Emma Stone said she HAD her winning envelope, so how there was a copy that Warren Beatty read is even more strange.

Again. I would have loved to have seen Mel Gibson lose his mind if he thought he won then lost

I once helped mess up a live broadcast at 2am at a low-viewership TV station. So I know how they feel. :o

I mean, they'd definitely have multiple copies of everything in case something got lost.

Not really all that strange. I'm sure they have several backup copies on-hand just in case.

Well, that was crazy! I was rooting for Hidden Figures, but knew it wasn't going to get it. Im just happy it stayed surprising. #blameDamon

I thought the La La Land producers were just being gracious winners when they started up with "Moonlight, you're the real winners here." But then it was real. They handled it about as well as they could I'd say.

That's the nature of live television. Somewhere Travolta is thanking God he no longer has the worst flub in Oscars history.

Millennials are probably tweeting each other who let these old people announce the winner in the first place.

who would of thought all those years ago watching superbad both would be oscar nominated and 1 would actually win!!!!!

I liked Moonlight, but felt meh about it compared to LA LA LAND.

Happy for Emma tho.

Beatty and Dunaway mistakenly trusted that the people handing them the envelopes were giving them the right one.

Since Best Leading Actress was already awarded, I have to wonder why they still had an unsealed version of that card not only still lying around, but somewhere where it could be mistakenly handed out to be read. You would think that one thing they would make absolutely sure to get right would be that the presenters had the right envelope.

I wonder if now they're going through all the winners to make sure the right ones were announced and that no other mixups happened?

You can bet this mistake will never be made again! And of course it had to be the biggest award of the night...

This was a goof up on PwC's part. Should be interesting going into work today knowing it was your firm that caused this mess. lol

Are they in charge of hanging out the envelopes backstage? I would have thought that would be the responsibility of the people running the show...

You have to feel bad for them. Yes they screwed up but in the grand scheme of things, does it matter?

That passive agressive fat bald producer from la la land was rude af! He SNATCHED that enevlope out of warrens hand. It was so disrespectful! It wasn't Warrens fault. he should apologise immediately for doing that to warren. I think he loved being in the spotlight

from all the backup envelopes....what are the chances that they gave him the one where the title of the movie was hyped to win best picture? :) Thats why he didnt go back and ask.
