BvS The Alfred Pennyworth Casting Thread

How about a more updated Alfred, like in Beware the Batman? I wouldn't mind a capable Alfred, who was a former MI6, can take care of himself and helps to keep Bruce sharp.

so basically Dalton? If so, I agree.

Yeah true. And ive seen McDowell be fatherly too. Even recently, the first Rob Zombie Halloween movie where he's looking after young Michael Myers, there's a warm, sincere vibe about him.

McDowell was my first choice originally for Alfred. I still think he can pull it off. But they'll probably go with somebody more obvious like John Hurt.

I've never seen that Halloween :oldrazz:

I'd like Hurt as well. He reminds me of Gough.

I'm kinda liking the idea of Mark Gatiss, but he may be too young.

You want a respected character actor with a connection to Affleck?

Victor Garber. Done.

Victor Garber is my pick for Commissioner Jim Gordon, if they can't get Brian Cranston.
But if he can do a good English accent, he can work as Alfred.

You should watch it just to see McDowell and if you like violence lol. The second one has McDowell being his classic A-Hole self, but he has fatherly qualities in the first movie.

I've seen clips of it, and it looks good.

I've also seen clios of the second one......my God! What was Rob Zombie thinking? :wow:

I like Garber but Alfred is British. Let's keep it that way. I don't want some American pulling an accent. Same goes for Tommy Lee Jones playing a Texan-version of Alfred. Dumbest idea I've heard yet.

I'm in the Pierce Brosnan for Alfred camp. Think he would be a perfect mixture of gentleman's gentleman and a former badass to boot. And we know he can rock a tux.

:funny:

And on the subject of Pierce as Alfred.

I think he's a better pick than Dalton. Pierce has that badass aspect to him. But I think, it's what I've seen him in films with children and based on him raising children after his wife died in real life, Pierce is a natural fatherly figure. Out of all actors, he's the only one I can imagine seeing as Alfred sacrificing his life to raise a friends disturbed child.

Then with the badass aspect, be accepting to Bruce fighting criminals as Batman.

I'm surprised at some of the relatively youthful suggestions. Not that Brosnan isn't a good actor, but he's only just turned 60. Assuming Affleck and Brosnan play close to they ages, it would have made Alfred in his late 20's when Thomas and Martha were murdered. I think Alfred should be some years older than that.

I'm open to both Dalton and Brosnan as Alfred. They both have those qualities that could make them pretty damn good Alfred's. Again, the James Bond fan in me is speaking. Next you know I'll say Roger Moore has a good chance. Oh wait....:p

Yeah the first was good. The second was too over the top. I liked the first because the first half was like a prequel to the original John Carpenter movie then the second half was a straight up remake with a Rob Zombie spin on it.

What about that guy who made the wands in Harry Potter?

EDIT: Nevermind, John Hurt has been mentioned numerous times here, didn't realize that was him.
