The All Things Flash Thread. - Part 2

In CW's Crisis On Infinite Earths, yeah. Ezra cameo'd in that and shared a scene with Grant Gustin's Flash.
Given the CW show is ending, it would be quite cool if Miller got a glimpse of Gustin's Flash as he was speeding through the timeline.

NWH isn’t supposed to be the first solo film for Spider-Man the way this is billed as Flash’s first solo, despite it really being based only on Flashpoint and being a crossover event. WB has screwed us out of getting a true Flash movie.

As I've said previously, it's a good idea that Batman(s), Supergirl, Zod etc are in this. There's no way Miller could carry this after all that... stuff.

I think it's a blessing in disguise, considering this incarnation is (hopefully) going nowhere after this film. Now they can do their "proper Flash movie" to launch the character in the DCU in a few years.

Yeah, they got lucky there...especially since most of the focus is on Keaton.
A bit sad for The Flash itself, the first flash movie and all the focus is on everyone but the Flash.
But thats better than the alternative if they would have Miller carry this movie on their own.

Muschietti could have still done it without all revolving around Miller and actually do the solo Flash movie that was in development way before the Flashpoint comic came out. He could have taken his ppl from It like Bill Skarsgård, Jessica Chastain, Bill Hader, Isiah Mustafa, James McAvoy et al and given them roles of rogues and ppl in Central City. More appropriate than revisiting Keaton Batman Batfleck and Supergirl. For too long all the DC movies we ever got were Batman and Superman.
It’s not fair to the Flash. Every other mainstream Marvel and DC character got his or her solo film.
Even with all the other non-Flash characters having bigger roles to take focus away from Miller we get 2-3 versions of Miller. That instead of other Flashes like Jay Garrick or Wally West played by new actors.

No he couldn't have. By the time he was brought on the script was set he wasn't going to scrap that and delay the film even longer.

The movie is what it is. The coulda, shoulda, woulda stuff leads nowhere. We have no clue what the contracts looked like leading up. What stipulations WB might’ve had. Let’s just focus on discussing the film that exists.

I was mostly only intrigued by this movie based on the things it was setting up...

it doesn't seem like their following through with any of those set ups, now, with most the DCU heading towards hard reboot anyway

if this is just one off, introducing these new characters/new concepts, bringing back classic actors is really for nothing

that being said it should be a hell-a-ride so I'm still in... just in regards of it looking like a fun, action packed, thrill, with zero consequences

but I'm not as excited as I would have been if this was the continuum (if that makes sense)

i will probably enjoy this like i enjoyed superhero films pre-mcu. maybe even pre-raimi spider-man.

where sequels weren't always guaranteed. and there wasn't any need for a cinematic universe that would go on perpetually.

maybe this will be a cool one-off, and the rest can be left to our imagination to what happens to these characters in the future.

I'm pretty sure it'll end on a note of hope.

The film that exists is not a Flash solo film. So WB should do Flash a favor by not marketing it that way. They’re just using Flash as an excuse to reset everything and get Keaton to play Batman again.

Well, there's a precedent for it in the comics. Dan DiDio decided to highjack Geoff Johns' story and use it for a universe reset to launch the New 52.

Yeah but that wasn’t billed as The Flash the way this is. It was billed as a crossover event- which this should be.

Saw on Reddit that WB has put up the teaser poster at their Studio.

I’m sensing some trepidation in terms of talking about Flash himself. But I just wanted to say that it feels like they’re saving a lot of his most powerful moments for the film. However, I really like the quick shot of him creating the twister in the desert.

Even with Flashpoint being the only comics inspiration behind this, it’s so lame not to have Reverse Flash and just be bad Barry instead. The less Ezra Miller the better right? Muschietti should have had one of his It ppl like Hader, Skarsgård or McAvoy be Eobard Thawne.

Well, they can now use Thawne in the future. No way they aren't making more Flash films.

Wouldn't mind if they just kill Barry in this or the timeline he creates no longer uses him. Much rather see Wally West anyways which means no Ezra. We should get more Flash movies but this one may need to do well. That could be why they will pump out as much Michael Keaton Batman as possible to bring people in.

I do prefer character death over recasting most times. A new face can be jarring, especially if you really like the first actor.
