The All Things Flash Thread. - Part 2

Watching Dan Murrell's review and he liked it. He said its GOOD not great.

Reactions are starting to come in folks! Strap in! Have a feeling we’re gonna be seeing lots of EXTREME reactions on both sides.

Incoming all the terrible takes and reactions

Definitely a little sad that WB/DC took so long getting this project off the ground in terms of being a "multiverse adventure".

Didn't the first-ever multiverse storyline in a superhero comic come from a Flash comic back in the day? Now, they're the last movie to get on the screen with this concept. Can't blame any viewers getting a "been there, done that" vibe at this point.

The Flash of Two Worlds where Barry is doing a trick, vibrates and ends up on Earth-2 where he meets original Flash Jay Garrick. Great comic.

Grace Randolph loved it (after dumping on it for months) and so did Chris Stuckmann.

Stuckmann made an interesting comment, saying that the movie is very funny but not MCU silly funny but genuinely funny.

He is right. It isn't forced jokes just to break up serious moments...it flows better like a good comedy does.

I am done commenting on the other discussion.

The reviews are making me sad, very few are saying it's really good.

At this point, I'm actually rather ambivalent to the movie's existence. The flurry of opinions around it, the controversy, the constant media attention and screenings... I don't care anymore how the movie is, I just want it out and in the rear view mirror so we can all forget about it. This and Indy 5.

And yeah, that's all on me for following things about it on the internet. The hype period for both of these movies (extended as they were through pandemic delays) only drew out what were already very divisive projects, making it worse. While I don't rely on other people's joy to increase my own feelings about a movie (bad reviews don't bother me), I do make the mistake of following online response to enhance my hype. Indy 5 and this have been so filled with controversy (real or fake), that I'm just over the both of them.

Being a slave to the internet isn't good for anybody :funny:

I dont think theres any reason to be sad @Moncton . Its still early but from what I'm seeing the consensus is that this is a solid summer blockbuster. And apparently theres a ton of surprises we dont know about that DC fans are gonna geek out on. Stuff even @dhandler01 hasnt seen yet ;)

Yeah, it's exhausting. I'm tired of opinions.
The extended hype for both Indy and Flash hasn't done the movies any favors. In fact, I think it might have hurt them in the end.

I could have gone to another sneak preview tomorrow (I think a legit one with end credits) but I will be in Vegas. Poor me :o

I guess it's just the difference with all the early reviews, even from some celebrities, about how it's one of the best CBM'S ever and now to it being good enough fun film

Trust me I get it. The whole "best cbm ever" narrative was a marketing tactic from day one to sell this movie and it ended up jinxing itself. I think they put those expectations into a lot of reviewers heads and they're like "uh, no, this is certainly not." But at the end of the day, listen to the critics and people you trust and align with your tastes. So far all the ones I usually pay attention to have given this a big thumbs up. I'm not going in there expecting the best cbm of all time, I'm going in wanting a fun DC multiverse movie and to see my favorite all time Batman kick some ass. Seems like it more than delivers on those fronts.

I don't ever want to see a KC film...the only Superman with that type of gravitas is dead and honestly I don't need to see a film where he quit cause Lois died. (Along with Magog) Don't Luke Skywalker Superman.

Yeah, I will say, that hype really become an obstacle for me. Because a part of me wanted to believe it. I always want to go into every movie open to the possibility that it overdelivers and absolutely knocks my socks off. The fact that Keaton's Batman is in this movie made me especially want to believe it, because I felt like his return really did deserve something special. Don't get me wrong, I still had a good time though. If this movie had somehow managed to keep Keaton's involvement a secret, and we just discovered where the movie was going in real time as were watching it...then yeah, it probably would've been the most mind-blowing movie ever haha. But again, that's the power of expectations.

You will 100% enjoy the ride based on where your expectations are. I guarantee it. Don't sweat the reviews. Nobody here who loved the trailers should worry about the reviews. The trailers are a very accurate reflection of the tone and feel of the movie. Just don't go in expecting it to soar above that and you'll be fine.

Yes just let yourself have fun. Don't psych yourself up it's just a movie.

Well said brother. I only watched the first two trailers and have been avoiding everything else like the plague. This honestly is probably my most anticipated of the year because Keaton’s back, that man’s Batman has such firm permanent place in my heart and defined my childhood. If they did him justice in this movie im happy and everything else is gravy.

I think part of the "disappointment" is that it's a DC team-up film, and with the horrible record DC has in that area many fans wanted a mind-blowing film.
