the writers said that they wouldnt use scenes that arnt needed so what if gwen doesnt die at all but somthing else happens although im all for gwen dying but it will happen in the 3rd when mj is needed in the script

A red herring is a distraction. It is defined as, "something intended to divert attention from the real problem or matter at hand; a misleading clue."

So if we all see Gwen wearing those clothes, and she doesn't die, then that is indeed a red herring as well. Not saying that is what Marc Webb is doing, just saying it is a theory.
The red herring is Woodley being cast as MJ;cause as soon as she was cast, many said it was bye-bye Gwen. As far as the scenes shot...of course he intended to shoot so few scenes with her, scenes easily taken out and not included, just something to "divert" attention away from being a predictable script.

Well that is one theory, yes. But I doubt it.

I know what a red herring is I'm just saying there's a difference between a red herring and messing with the fans. Gwen + Bridge= red herring. Gwen + Iconic Outfit + Bridge= Messing with the fans. You don't make something look exactly like an Iconic scene only to have it be a red herring its too much and will piss off the fans.

Yeah, I think people are overreacting as they always do. We had one scene of Peter and MJ talking by his garage, one scene of MJ talking to Gwen, and a reaction shot of MJ witnessing a car wreckage. Big deal.
Exactly. Could've been three scenes that were not at all important to the story, but just scenes solely to introduce her character. Bam that's it.

Seems like a really odd decision. I mean, how can you cut scenes meant for one movie and put them in a whole different movie and still have them make sense?
If you mean take these same scenes they shot for it and put into the third? No, they'll probably reshoot them.
And they're probably able to cut them BECAUSE they aren't that important anyway. Which is good right?

Well "messing with the fans" could still be considered a red herring.

Geez that's a lot.

Friend online is "STATING" that she won't appear in 3 and will be recast.

People don't have their facts straight!

Almost every site is reporting that they're recasting the role.

there is still 3 years till the next film

where would they get this recast info from?

Almost every site is reporting that they're recasting the role.

Unless there has been an announcement from Marc Webb, Sony, or Woodley, then nothing is official.

there is still 3 years till the next film, i doubt webb is planning that far ahead, who knows maybe webb doesn't even know if he is coming back O.o

where would they get this recast info from?

Of course he is planning ahead, that's the whole point of this film series.

This is getting messy. I'm not getting a good vibe out of this.

EDIT: I was also looking forward to seeing Shailene, I really liked her in the film with Clooney.

I guess they will have new auditions for MJ when doing ASM3. Lyndsy Fonseca would be cool, if she has the acting and chemistry with Andrew that it takes.

MJ is being really cast, not recast, cause Webb really had no intention on Woodley being MJ....she's the red herring. ;)

I think they're all just quoting The Hollywood Reporter.

I wish THR would've written more on why they thought she'd be recast. People are saying she'll be busy with the Divergent trilogy, but she signed on TASM knowing she'd be in Divergent too so I don't know why that would suddenly be a problem.

plus if gwen was dying in the 2nd it would be done in the studio and kept so higly under wraps that it wouldnt even be a romur it would be a huuuuuge shock the day of the movie he wouldnt let a major plot point out like that so she wont die in the second. maybe 3rd mj will come in 4th

Friend, as in "Facebook." I should've been more specific har har.

So if they announced that scenes depicting Bane's origin were cut in TDKR prior to its release, would everyone start freaking out, too?

Stop assuming she will be recast, we don't know ANYTHING right now other than she won't be in TASM2.

wow if sony payed an actress to be a red herring for a film... im sure they could put money to better use ;)

^^joke, silly MJ red herring comments
