Don't care what anyone says...

THAT classic costume would never translate to film in a positive way. That mask...no. Personally, I am very happy with what they are doing with the character supposedly right now.

And I bet your asses that person isn't lying about what was seen on that guard's phone. But we'll have to see down the road.

hate it all you want.. but it's truly iconic for that character.

Lame or not. People for some reason seem to think Electro is a completely different character than what he is....

me neither. Oh well...

Iron Monger looked amazing, so I wouldn't mind a CGI Rhino since they could probably make it look pretty great

Yeah I agree. I was hoping they'd go CG for rhino. How would they be able to control Rhino's suit if it were practical??

you can still do his character well without having yellow and green lightning

which is why i don't believe the report... i don't see how they'd be able to pull off rhino without CG..

you can. but to ME, it wont feel like electro without some sort of reference to his classic self.

Would Lizard feel like Lizard if he was brown? Hulk if he was purple?

Did Doc Ock have the classic costume straight from the costume? No, the only aspects he retained were really, the robotic arms and that's what matters right?

So in theory, as long as Electro appears in a form of electricity, no matter the color...then he retains his physical features.

Also, the character matters first, not the costume/appearance.

I think it would be cool if instead of all blue (like Dr. Manhattan), Electro just had visibly blue veins under his skin, like they're carrying electrical charges. His veins lit up could/would make it look like he has electricity coursing under his skin.

And with the black suit, since I agree it may be kind of bland, maybe electrical charges (added in post-production) could be constantly running through it so it's not just stagnant black. I know rubber is supposed to repel lightning but I think it could look cool/unique

not exactly.. they gave him his glasses and instead of a lab jacket... a trench coat. Which are pretty good nods to his comic costume. It wasn't just about his "powers" (arms)

Well we don't know whether or not that will happen yet but I have a feeling it will. At least, right before and immediately after acting out with his powers.

Whatever happens, the potential for the Electro character is strong!

then thats a big shame for something like that to ruin the movie version of the character for you

I never once said the word "ruin" to be disappointed in something doesn't mean you think it's a disaster that ruins it all for you...

Its just not something that i'd prefer.

Not to bring you know who into discussion here...

but did Bane look anything like he did in the comics? Absolutely not, but the character worked!

They can get away with more liberties too, in my opinion, because Electro isn't exactly an iconic figure as a villain. He's popular yeah, but he isn't a Green Goblin. That's for damn sure.

I don't mind Electro not looking like the comics as long as he looks really cool.

However, I really hope they won't go with the Dr Manhattan look. It would look really generic.

That's debatable.

not for me.. Bane was practically "In Name Only" to me.. his voice was ridiculous and sounded like Snively Whiplash mated with Darth Vader, and alot of aspects of Bane were completely kept out... the Luchador side of him is pretty important... They essentially turned Bane into Che Rivera or a Terrorist.

Nolan essentially created his own character

To GuestStar..
Cool Electro posts. Took me a while to get used to Paul Azaceta's style, but Electro's "Power to the People" is one of my favorite of the Gauntlet.
I can't find any online but there's some cool panels that have Electro inside a lab trying to get juiced, and it's somewhat dark, and he's fighting spidey...it looks really cool. In looking forward to something similar. I just know the 3D with it has gotta look really cool. Hopefully it doesn't disappoint.

Yes it definitely is

I hope if he does go full-blue, it's only for a very small portion of the film, like maybe his powers keep growing until it peaks in a full-electrical form.

I get a strong feeling that we're going to get many varying visuals with Electro throughout the film, possibly with nods here and there to the classic look. I hope he doesn't/don't think he'll have one predominant form/visual style throughout the whole movie

Wow, that just gave me an idea of an inspired route here...specifically "The Fly."

you forgot his disastrous blue costume from the late 90s which is easily his worst and probably tied with "zombie electro" from the MTV animated series

Hmmm. I don't remember Electro in a blue costume in the 90's. Do you mean Superman's disastrous white and blue costume when he was a, wait for it...being composed of electricity?

There was a fantastic Electro story in the late 90's though (the first one that he ditches his mask) where he gets his powers get amped up and he goes completely haywire.

edit: nevermind, I just remembered John Byrne's attempt at a Spider-Man re-boot in the late 90's and the awful, generic white/blue Electro costume.

But the Bane from TDKR maintained the same basic character and personality traits, even if there were superficial changes and he didn't resemble his comic book counterpart 100%. IN TASM2, they're completely re-tooling the character into something he never was.

The zero to hero (or villain) thing has been done a million and one times. I hope they can work some magic and make this the least bit unique.

I don't like to see black leather costumes in comic book movies because I'm watching a ****ing comic book movie. Give me bright colors and outrageous costumes. If I wanted realism, I'd watch any other movie.

Superheroes are inherently unrealistic. So accept that and go nuts.

GA are what gives these movies their power, if they don't find it appealing or think it looks laughable/cheesey then that means less box office gross, which means lower budgets and less
CBMs being produced. Add on top of that Webb has created a universe where that stuff would be out of place and negatively affect the movie due to that (which every directors main concern should be making the best movie possible) in order to distance itself from Raimi's, where these things would be more acceptable. TASM had to be different to draw in new audiences, so they have to stick with it what they have, otherwise risk making the movies jarring by switching tones and styles.

I don't remember him lacking a tactical mind or honor in the comics.

Bane by the third act was reduced to just a more talkative version of the B&R Bane.

around the time the clone saga ended when Electro was put on death row in an electric chair he got a new costume which lasted a couple of more years into the relaunch. It was white and blue and was like a giant spandex suit covering his whole body minus his eyes nose and mouth. And was Blue and white. It was god awful

personally i hate it when movies take a character and turn them into a hollow shell of who they are in the books... often times just for the sake of changing...

it's the only thing i didnt like about spider-man 2 ... Ock shouldn't have Kurt Connors story... and Sandman surely shouldn't have the burglars...

you can add "some" depth to the character but make it still have basis to the books which made them good in the first place. Otherwise they feel completely unfamiliar. It's my issue with some of the X-men characters on film as well.

when you make it just completely about there powers and "making a good movie" you also lose a little bit of the spirit that makes the characters great.

problem is it's an incredibly dated mentality to assume what the audience can handle and what they wont. It's the same logic they had in the late 90s/early 2000s when all heroes wore black leather...

the best responses have always been the films that are able to make it feel classic, but give it a modern twist.
