1. Okay, did anyone else absolutely love the web swinging in the first scene. It was so absolutely perfect! Everytime I go on youtube I look up those first 10 minutes scene. It was fantastic.

2. Will this thread ever be merged with the ASM thread? I'm thinking they should have merged it into a general series thread by now.

Also answer this. They should merge two ASM forums now franchise is over.

That will probably happen soon, and it wouldn't surprise me to see it taken a step further eventually and merge all of the old Spidey films into one section. I'm surprised that SHH keeps as many sections as they do, like Spider-Man "Products", but I'm prepared for the day when some of that is viewed as more trouble than it's worth by those in charge.

Holy crap, did Garfield look out of place in the graduation scene. I have no idea why he looks way older than in TASM1

True. I'd home Raimi and Webb stay seperate though.

I really hope they don't go that far. Making a TASM-board, fine but merging it with the Raimi ones... no.

Make it happen Hype, get rid of the ASM section, that series is already forgotten.

I'll never forget TASM series.....for being so awful, it made Sony negotiate Spidey into the MCU, after Avi Aretard said they didn't need marvel. :funny:

I wish they would have kept the deleted scene at the end were Peter's father is revealed to be alive. That would have been and unexpected ending. I really liked that scene. It would have made this terrible movie a little bit better.

How did you manage to successfully sit through this from start to end when you can't endure the previous movie enough to watch beyond 40 minutes?

I really wish someone could make a fan edit using clips from TASM and majority of TASM2 where TASM is used only for origin/opening credit purposes (and flashbacks) and TASM2 is the one-and-done film.

That way, you deduce it down to this:

  • TASM's origin story is condensed for opening credits, clips of him in his old suit can be assumed for when Spider-Man was a rookie.
  • Cut any trace of Peter's parents story out to make it feel more 'proper', I guess?
  • Use Uncle Ben for Flashbacks or cut him, leaving only mentions.
  • Cut the graduation bit so we just assume Peter's doing his own thing.
  • Use Electro, Gobby and Rhino as intended (minus any possible Sinister Six building).
  • Strengthen the Gwen/Peter relationship with usuage of flashbacks and what-not from TASM and also TASM2.
  • Use Doc Connors for flashbacks/mentions.
    etc.
Maybe it'd strengthen the series for people? I don't know, but I'd love to see something like that.

I didn't. I got bored soon after the first action scene and then watched the best parts.

I thought of a positive point in TASM2 that I think more people should enjoy:
Hero saves and people talk monologue over the action.
I love that montage, it's cheerful and spunky. Spidey saves people, they thank them, he talks to them and doesn't turn his head away brooding to get away.

Let's all be thankful that Sony decided to let Marvel take over the creative control.

So Spider-Man like, great point

For me a big flaw in TASM2 was that Peter basically pushed Gwen away and broke up with her and then spent the rest of the movie bummed out that they weren't together, upset that Gwen was moving on and/or trying to get back with her.

Thinking more about this movie, it has a lot of moments I greatly appreciate and want to see more like them.
  • Grabbing the police car is one of the best moments, awesome feats like that combining both strength and agility need to happen more.
  • Highfiving the fire fighters.
  • Walking with a kid and talking to him like he did with Jorge, and Jack from the first movie.
  • The whole montage of Spider-Man doing superhero work and people narrating over it, between support and disapproval, with the cheerfulness and spunk of that should exist.
  • Trying to calm Max down
  • Gwen's death (can't blame her for getting out before the Goblin reached the scene)
  • Spider-Man swinging and moving with agility heading to the power grid
  • Aunt May as a nurse
  • Holding the police speaker to talk to Rhino
  • You're not a nobody, YOU'RE MY EYES AND EARS
  • Help Gwen escape Oscorp security

You know something, this might end up being my favorite Spidey movie. I won't feel ashamed or guilty for loving it so much, it's lots of fun to watch.
And he only stalked Gwen for one scene.

Its already my favorite Spider-Man movie for those very reasons and more. For the first time in a long line of films, this one felt the most like a Spidey comic or an episode of one of the shows, and it was great.

I'll never understand the outright hatred for this film. So underrated.
