The Amazing Spider-Man 2 The Amazing Spider-Man 2 General Discussion - - Part 86

Its already my favorite Spider-Man movie for those very reasons and more. For the first time in a long line of films, this one felt the most like a Spidey comic or an episode of one of the shows, and it was great.

I'll never understand the outright hatred for this film. So underrated.
I'll never understand the outright hatred to this version of Peter Parker or Spider-Man.

Thinking more about this movie, it has a lot of moments I greatly appreciate and want to see more like them.
  • Grabbing the police car is one of the best moments, awesome feats like that combining both strength and agility need to happen more.
  • Highfiving the fire fighters.
  • Walking with a kid and talking to him like he did with Jorge, and Jack from the first movie.
  • The whole montage of Spider-Man doing superhero work and people narrating over it, between support and disapproval, with the cheerfulness and spunk of that should exist.
  • Trying to calm Max down
  • Gwen's death (can't blame her for getting out before the Goblin reached the scene)
  • Spider-Man swinging and moving with agility heading to the power grid
  • Aunt May as a nurse
  • Holding the police speaker to talk to Rhino
  • You're not a nobody, YOU'RE MY EYES AND EARS
  • Help Gwen escape Oscorp security

You know something, this might end up being my favorite Spidey movie. I won't feel ashamed or guilty for loving it so much, it's lots of fun to watch.
And he only stalked Gwen for one scene.

I wouldn't even consider it stalking when Gwen herself asked if it was to make sure she was safe.

I'm sorry, but if I was the guardian of my city and I had enemies constantly and I broke it off with my loved one to ensure her protection, I'd pretty sure I'd check in on her here-or-there while maintaining a good portion of distance.

Besides, it's not like he just watched her the entirety of her being at the meatball restaurant. He saw he was needed and with one last look, he turned his attention to something much more important.

RIP Michael Massee, aka 'The Gentleman' from TASM 1 & 2. He was honestly one of the things I was most interested going forward in this series.

 :csad:

Always thought he should've been Norman and felt it was such a waste to cast Cooper in the role.

It sounds like he lived a tortured life because of the accident, and then he died at a mere 61. I hope he finds the peace in the next life that he didn't in this one.:csad:

I think Sony/Webb knew who Michael Masse was by TASM2, but probably not when filming the first movie. I swear, I really believed that he was Norman Osborn.

A few images of the costume in motion

I think those shots really emphasize how much the costume in 2 looked like the Raimi costume, too much at least too soon.

She was very intriguing, I think it is too bad we won't see a lot more follow-up.

This series had some promise but also many many potential pitfalls. Ultimately I think it's for the best that it went away, but it'll always be fondly remembered in my mind for what it was and the joy I did derive from what was available.

I somewhat enjoyed TASM1 at the time, and I think this franchise could have done a lot. TASM2 just felt like a slap in the face.

I enjoyed things about both movies, and TASM1 was really not a bad movie.

The only thing about it was that he never caught The Burglar....ugh

TASM1 should have resolved the parents and burglar subplots. I walked out of the film pissed off and unsatisfied, but I was willing to give TASM2 a chance because I saw the potential.

I think him not finding the killer was ok, he tried to find him in a city of millions.

It's not a realism problem. It's an unsatisfactory story problem. The plot is just left dangling, then completely ignored in the sequel.

I'll imagine he caught him between movies, said "I forgive you", and sent him to the cops without humiliating him.
Except for a kick to his hand carrying gun.
And a punch to his gut.
And webbing him with the text 'LOSER' hanging upside down by their doorstep.

Definitely. That's the best I've heard it summed up.

I think we, along with Peter, were supposed to just let it go at the end of TASM1 when he saw the graffiti, but, uh... not only was it not clear that he was letting go, there was no real prompt for the audience to do so as well.

That's the worst thing about this series IMO. If it had been rectified, I'd view it a lot differently, because despite the flaws I really do think there's plenty to like about the Webbverse.

Both TASM films are very frustrating. They introduce several plot points that just go unresolved, like the biggest tease you could possibly get.

Agreed, seeing more Felicity Jones as Felicia was one of the things I was most looking forward to in this franchise. Sucks that's all we got. :(

I'd rather he never be caught than the half-assed resolution they gave in the video game tie-in. :lmao:

Honestly one of the biggest disappointments for me.

Duuudee, be thankful he let the burglar go in the films because in the game, the burglar was quickly offed in a way to introduce "C.K."

Obviously, C.K. was Cletus who was trying to get Spider-Man's attention because they were similar or some crap. A battle here, Ravencroft there, and we end up with a Carnage boss battle motivated by Peter's lack of closure of catching Ben's killer all because Cletus killed him.

The reason why he did, apparently, was because he was a vigilante or something? Kinda like Dexter but a no-name brand of him, I guess. I really can't remember nor do I really want to.

Hey Dalton, nice to see you post here. :)
I like the resolution as it is for a game that has no strong connection to the film's continuity.

PBP gave an accurate description.
He didn't need to mention Spider-Man using his spider tracers to tap into phone network satellites and tower to jack in on people's private calls and listen to them to find Carradine's line.
