I am very glad to see TASM shot up with the numbers. 521 mil worldwide is a nice plump figure.

This was the movie's last weekend chance to gain some legs before Batman dominates the box office. I'm glad it did.

excellent

He demanded truckloads,50M combined for SM4 and SM5 was his demand

In contrast Garfield got 500,000 for his role in SM1 and despite that, the way he threw himself into that role was amazing

Best comic book related performance after Heath Ledger's without a doubt

Oh...my gawd.

I thought that Ledgers take on Joker was pretty amazing, and that he sold it very well, but for some reason I have a hard time actually ranking him.

That actually happens to me with movies, I actually enjoy a lot of movies the same amount, but I usually give them different number scores still...

It's why it's hard for me to choose favorites.

I liked Garfield, but he isn't in my top ten either.

My top ten in chronological order:

1) Christopher Reeve
2) Jack Nicholson
3) Michelle Pfeiffer
4) Hugh Jackman
5) Ian McKellen
6) Christian Bale
7) Robert Downey Jr.
8) Heath Ledger
9) Aaron Eckhart
10) Michael Fassbender

Bale hasnt done anything to warrant a spot ahead of Garfield

F--- happen to the box office thread, there's a thread for comic book performances?

Bale hasnt done anything to warrant a spot ahead of Garfield

Not a thing, and his 'Batvoice' is embarrassingly laughable.

'He must have frienddddssss'

'City showed you it's willing to do gooooddddddd'

ahahahahahahaha

I'm reinacting those two lines now

Sweeeeaaaarrrrrgggghhhh tooooo meeeeeeaaaagggghh!!!

But seriously, Bale's still enjoyable as batman and I hear that he knocks it out of the park for this new one.

I liked Garfield, but next best comic film performance behind Ledger? 100% disagree on that one. Garfielf was good, but Christopher Reeve, RDJ, or even Hemms, Evans, Hiddleston he was not. He was quite good, don't get me wrong. But, don't blow his performance in the movie out of proportion.

(imho) Garfield's performance betters
Hemworth's Thor
Evans' Cap
But not Downey's Iron Man or Reeves' Superman.
I absolutely LOVED his performance as the Hero and I was absolutely taken by what he brought to the role. Also unlike the vast majority of actors playing heroes he is completely different in costume than he is out of costume.

Reeves gives the best performance for a hero ever, his Clark Kent and then Superman is incredible and the scene where he is going to reveal himself to Lois and he seems to grow two feet and put on 20 pounds of muscle in one scene is jaw dropping.

Then you have Downey he charm is amazing even though at the start of the movie he is selling weapons.

These are my two favorites but for me Garfield absolutely comes third, I was laughing at his wisecracks in costume, cared if he got with the girl out of costume, bought that he was smart and cried when he was sobbing over uncle Ben brilliant. In no way shape or form compares to Ledger's Joker but c'mon, Ledger's performance is the best performance commited to a superhero movie and one of the best performances commited to film EVER.

So was it around a 50% drop or less ?
Anybody have any numbers on that ?

Downey did for Iron Man what Reeve did for Superman basically. I would put it seriously on par with that due to the originality obviously put into the characterization.

Well, for my rankings, Garfield is up there with the best ever. He got me to emotional as to cry more than once, and that's never happened ever with a cbm for me. Order for me is debatable, but Garfield is up there among Ledger and Reeve for my favorite cbm acting performances. Above RDJ. Hemmsworth? good, but please.

I'd put Garfield above Hemmsworth, Evans and Bale as well. The guy just sold the emotional scenes, his smarts and awkwardness. He was just great, in and out of costume.

Bale hasnt done anything to warrant a spot ahead of Garfield

Garfield, having appeared in only ONE movie as Peter, has done nothing to be ahead of guys like Bale, RDJ and especially Christopher Reeve. Or even Maguire.

Actually that was exactly what a LOT of critics said

But yeah..You are correct and all of them are wrong

Show me these critics that have said it's the next best performance after Ledger's Joker.

:lmao:

OS numbers are not very good, will have problems to cross 800M worldwide.

I loved that whole bit in the film. Really was a "WOW" moment for me.
