I don't think he was elite comic book movie hero level, like Ledger or Reeve, so I will just have to agree to disagree with people here. Man was good, not best performance ever.
Garfield, having appeared in only ONE movie as Peter, has done nothing to be ahead of guys like Bale, RDJ and especially Christopher Reeve. Or even Maguire.
Mostly the early reviews, before the embargo was officialy lifted,I stopped reading reviews after that so wouldnt knowShow me these critics that have said it's the next best performance after Ledger's Joker.
Do you even read the posts properly?
Good point but if we compare the origins only
He has done better than Bale and Maguire easily.
(imho) Garfield's performance betters
Hemworth's Thor
Evans' Cap
But not Downey's Iron Man or Reeves' Superman.
I absolutely LOVED his performance as the Hero and I was absolutely taken by what he brought to the role. Also unlike the vast majority of actors playing heroes he is completely different in costume than he is out of costume.
Reeves gives the best performance for a hero ever, his Clark Kent and then Superman is incredible and the scene where he is going to reveal himself to Lois and he seems to grow two feet and put on 20 pounds of muscle in one scene is jaw dropping.
Then you have Downey he charm is amazing even though at the start of the movie he is selling weapons.
These are my two favorites but for me Garfield absolutely comes third, I was laughing at his wisecracks in costume, cared if he got with the girl out of costume, bought that he was smart and cried when he was sobbing over uncle Ben brilliant. In no way shape or form compares to Ledger's Joker but c'mon, Ledger's performance is the best performance commited to a superhero movie and one of the best performances commited to film EVER.
You didn't read his post closely enough. He said Garfield was better than Hemsworth and Evans, but not RDJ and Reeve. I agree with him too. Blows my mind that anyone thinks Hemsworth and Evans were better, especially Hemsworth. He wasn't bad or anything, just nothing special.

On par with RDJ and Reeve ofcourse is on another level
But you are right,he needs to carry on the good work

I guess I deserve abecause I did read it wrong.
My bad, lol.
Wow....really? Better than Bale easily?
Early reviews? The tweets or actual early reviews? And please, still show me...I do NOT believe you.
Haha! See I was right:

You said that people wouldn't react as negatively to negative TDKR reviews as with TASM. 240 comments in the space of 10 minutes. Damn, the negative reviews are going to get trashed.
I know this is blasphemous around here, but I really like Bale's Batman voice. He is the one and only Batman that I can actually believe that his identity isn't discovered in ten seconds.

Not even close. I just watched those movies over the weekend, and he's not quite as bad as Clooney, but it is still obviously him. Especially in Returns. He's a bit better in Batman 1989. Nowhere near Bale's level though.

All 4 of those Badman videos from collegehumor are killer. If you haven't seen the one with the Riddler you need to, it's hysterical.

Err.. were Nolan Bat-Fans seriously not expecting some negative reviews? There's three negative reviews on RT and they have more than 1000 comments combined.
OS numbers are not very good, will have problems to cross 800M worldwide.
Has TAS opened in China yet? If it doesn't have more big markets opening, I don't see how it's going to make it to $800 million either.
Man, this thread has been seriously hijacked.
