The majority of the negative reviews I'm seeing seem to be negative just simply because "it's the same movie as before." They're not judging the move by the quality of the story, acting, characters etc. This sounds pretty biased. Whereas all the postive reviews I've seen are viewing it as the previous films never existed.

I been reading them too and I'm starting to lean on the side that it's not a valid criticism. I still don't have an issue with the reviews that are negative but I don't feel like that's a good response to the movie but that's me

It's a shame it just can't be viewed on its own. I think comparisons are fair and all, but I'd love to hear what they thought of a film on its own.

That goes for any reboot/re imaging.

Not the entire trilogy, just the first film because we're pretty much getting the same scenario in Peter getting bitten, Uncle Ben dying.
