I can't believe we're on page 40 already. It feels like we blew through Part 9 real fast.
Ohhhhh. A lot! Drama mostly.
I see what you did thereI guess here's my thought process - and I don't want to compare films, but I will - and I'll try to do it in a respectful way so as to not insult anyone.
The more you make the story revolve around the character himself and how his decisions effect the lives of everyone he cares about and everyone surrounding him, then the more your audience is going to be invested in that character when the film ends. If you make it about how Peter got to the place in his life where he becomes Spider Man, and then walk that road with him as he continues to develop himself into the hero he grows into, then the audience reacts to that and cares more about the story you're trying to tell with the few hours you have on screen.
This is something I think that drew me initially to Batman Begins, because at it's core - the film was really all about the origin of Batman to begin with, right? 2 1/2 hours worth. And it was done really well, I've always thought that. From the casting (with 1 exception, don't ask who) to the story, the pacing, everything was really well put together.
And that's why I'm so drawn to this version of Spidey that's being released - because from the casting, to the writing, and the possible story development - it feels like it could be the 'Begins' for the Spiderman franchise, and that's a pretty exciting thing for anyone who has been a fan of Spidey as long as I have (and some of you, Im sure).
Not trying to start anything here, I just think that if it's done really well - even a rehash of the origin of the character can be extremely rewarding and be the type of Spiderman film that fans have been waiting on for a long time.
So again, I'll be going to see it - regardless of what the hell RT scores it at, and I'll make the judgement myself. Simply because I think I owe the franchise that much, at least, and completely ignoring the fact that I'm pretty stoked for it.
Headed home from work now, be around in a bit I think. Be nice to each other, will ya!
I'm with you..I have the same thought process. When eggy reviewed it he brought that point up and I said it sounded like they did something similar to Casino Royale and explained how Bond really turned into the double 0 as opposed to just giving him the license to kill and he becomes this polished agent who always does the right thing. I read one review of this flick, can't remember who it was, and said that it's one thing to know what happens to Peter but it's another thing to show how he really turns into this great hero not just from an outside standpoint but internally

oooh more drama....shame i missed that :P
seriously trying to read back through this thread is a headache. what the hell happened?![]()
I wonder if this board will get to Avengers status, going through at something like five threads in a day. That was crazy.
anyone care to update me on how we're doing on the review front?
RIM! Tell use you're opinions!

I wouldn't. Look at what people on here do to negative reviews.
Or maybe he will PM it to the people who he thinks can handle it.Yeah I agree..he should just keep it to himself for real.

Nothing to fear? We got two rotten reviews in a row on RT and some people thought this movie was going down the s***terBy all accounts, RIM was psyched for this movie before he saw it. And we have a good amount of positive reviews/responses at this point, so he should have nothing to fear.
I doubt anyone here considers him to be a troll, and hes actually seen the movie, so i expect people to be respectful.
agreed completely. not just the why, but the how too.

oh yeah I agree I think it would be unwise to throw it right in the middle of this thread. The review along with RIM would get eaten alive. If they ask him sure but doing it in a forum is like throwing meat in the lion's den..just so happens some of the lions have been replaced by bears who maul any and everything they see..down bear, down
K beautiful I'll catch you up: Some negative reviews dropped and you know how that goes..the sky is falling, burn down the town, bomb the country!!! Then positive reviews came in so then people started getting catty accusing some of trolling, accusing others of hating and wanting the film to fail and others saying some are being blind. Then it got snippy when nothing was coming in and people were just clowning each other and now the tomato score will be a big focus again because it's gone up to 81..just watch

Actually we respect Negative reviews and opinions from people who have actually seen the movie
