Idris Elba would make an amazing Bond. Or maybe I just think that because Idris Elba is awesome in everything I've seen him in...

You read my mind. He's dope in everything and would be an excellent Bond. A guy can dream

For me personally, Peter Parker is the Spider-Man. I can't see anybody else as him. I don't want to see anybody apart from Peter Parker as Spidey. If Spider-Man was black since his creation, I'd feel the same if they were going to change him into a white, Asian, etc character. It just feels too gimmicky for me.

As opposed to completely rewriting a character, why can't we focus on seeing takes of Spider-Men that already exist? I wouldn't mind seeing a Spider-Man Noir movie, or even a Spider-Man 2099 one.
This.

It's not racist to want to preserve a character the way he's always been. The reason I don't like Miles Morales isn't because of his race, it's the fact that he is now Spider-Man, and the only Spider-Man for me is Peter Parker.

You can re-imagine the character, sure. That's fine. It's been done and it's been done well. Miles is simply a replacement and not a very good one. I hate when people immediately pull the racist card when this is brought up, it's simply not true and not a very intelligent argument. By that virtue it would be racist of me to want characters like Blade, Falcon, Luke Cage, John Stewart, etc. to be white guys instead.

If I did that I would simply be missing the point, the point being that these characters are not defined by their race. Especially Spider-Man. Like it was just said, the mask represents Spidey. Wanting Peter Parker to be a different race misses the point all together. He isn't special because he's white, nor would he be any more special if he was black. He's special because he's Peter Parker and no one else can be him. It's that simple.

Let me be clear, Miles Morales has just as much of fair shot at being a superhero as anyone else does. Marvel simply shouldn't have made him Spider-Man. I would have much rather preferred an Ultimate version of Scarlet Spider, since that would differentiate him from Peter. But since he holds the title, Spider-Man, he has to be judged against the original, Peter Parker. And as it stands, Miles isn't as endearing of a character as Peter was. Is he terrible? No, but he's no replacement for Peter.

If anything, Miles proves just how special Peter really is. No one can imitate him and no one else can be him. It's what makes him special and it's why people love him.

Idris Elba as Bond?

Holy **** yes. Think I like that even more than Michael Fassbender picking it up next.

Do you guys watch Luther?

Luther is incredible man. Can't wait for season 3. Speaking of Fassbender (whom I'd also love to see as Bond but not as much as Idris) I wonder what he would've done with Dr. Connors since he was originally up for it but decided to play Magneto instead..hmmm

I just realized... only 9 days till the premiere and the only pic of the lizard from the movie we have gotten is this

No it isn't. We also got the one with him looking at Gwen through the door.

Oh, I totally forgot :funny:

but still, no movie pic from the front that isn't covered with something

what I meant mostly is a pic from the front/profile where you can see also his body

I don't really know where I fall on this issue anymore. As a black man I'd LOVE to see someone my color underneath that mask but at the same time, I don't think it's necessary because the thing that's so iconic about spider-man is the mask and you can project whatever race you want to underneath it. I'm coming around on the idea of James Bond being black though so maybe I will on this too

Way back before Miles, I thought that a black Spider-man would be interesting. It might actually fit better in some ways.

Imagine, a young black kid living in a poor neighborhood with his aunt, an outcast amongst a population of ignorant thug types, due to his genius, scientific passion and glasses. Being a minority it would amplify the sense of struggle in Parker's life.
While tolerating prejudice, with only his aunt and a teacher aware of his potential, He'd be conflicted by the desire to be successful, yet not be an uncle Tom. And all the better if this were to take place in the 60's.
We'd see a noble spider-man indiscriminately saving white people despite a life time of racism.

If I remember correct, that isn't in the film lol

I can't wait to find out if I'll be throwing my shoe at the screen or not...lol.

I'm....still neutral to be honest.

Knowing that scenes were taken out and what not, I still have a neutral mindset and hoping that even if scenes were taken out, the product is still enjoyable and a thrill ride.

So I guess I'm confused, so Peter wakes up on the subway soon after he gets bitten, spider-sense goes off and he thrashes a train full of thugs and he wakes up the next morning surprised by his strength?

Doesn't this seem a bit out of order?

BTW was wondering
Can a constructor worker afford a SUV?
 why?

For what's worth, I have a friend who is lucky if he makes $16 an hour, but has a $30,000 car. It's all in how you manage the money you DO have (in this case saving up for a long time to put a massive down payment on the car - his monthly payment is barely $125).

I get being sceptical over a new take on something. It's fair play to just wait and see :-)

To be fair, a lot of films leave things on the cutting room floor.

Star Trek 09 left a whole sub plot involving Nero and the Klingons out. It also left out a young Jim Kirk talking to his brother Sam. It cut out the scene on the Kobayashi Maru test where the green lady activated the program which let Kirk win the test (unbeknownst to her).

That's just one example that really springs to mind lol.

Yeah, there have been plenty of flicks that leave plenty of stuff on the cutting room floor. A lot of times, they'll shoot two versions of something and see which fits best or just which is liked better and go with that. Not every director does that though. Hitchcock was one who rarely did if he did it at all

I really hope we get a completely different cut option on the DVD. As much fun as just seeing the deleted scenes would be, I'd like to see the way they would have fit in and changed the movie.

The deleted scenes don't seem like they change the story. They were most likely cut because they were extending the film's length a little too much.

It *SOUNDS* like there is a chance that the cut scenes could have completely rewrote the origin of Spider-Man. Things like, "You think what happened to you was an accident?"

True, BUT, if they never release them and never talk about them, it remains conjecture and hearsay, thus they'd basically act like they don't exist..like Keyser Soze

So the scene with the doctor and Peter isn't in it anymore completely?

i wonder how Webb felt about them scenes being taken out, maybe the rumours of him not doing the sequel came up at same time

To be fair, the rumors came from Devin, the only guy who has been spreading bad things about the movie.
