I feel stupid for realising this but...

The movie opens here in the UK and Ireland on July 3rd... a TUESDAY?

I'm just realising thats a Tuesday. Thats very odd.

Yeah, I thought the Tuesday release date was odd. But with the Fourth falling in the middle of the week, it makes some sense.

So then is there no scene in the final cut of the movie that showing young Peter seeing his dad quickly erase a chalkboard with a bunch of spider related stuff on it as shown in the trailers?

A LOT of people take days off for 4th of July. It's a huge vacation week, and always pulls in big Box Office numbers for movies. Yes, the 4th being in the middle of the week will show some smalelr than normal numbers, but it'll be pretty inconsequential, I think.

As for me, my work is automatically giving us July 3-5 off.

What he means is, Peter's dad isn't doing stuff to him. He's still probably working on spiders, but it's unrelated to Peter.

By the way, for those keeping score: The Amazing Spider-Man screened in New York last week. There were a handful who liked it (mostly people you never heard of, to be frank), a few who felt it was forgettable and unnecessary, and some who hated it. The biggest Spider-Man fan I know found it to be a travesty.

I don't trust that doucebag at all. He's the one who started the rumor that Sony hated it, and his crapped all over it since day one.

Oh I got that, and if they have it so that Peter's dad was simply was responsible for creating the radioactive spider that bit Peter that a little more bareable as opposed to the rumor "Ang Lee Hulk" angle. Granted, it's huge coincidence, but it's tolerable. I was just wondering that, if that stuff about Peter's dad was originally in the film but then was edited out, what was edited out? I would think the chalkboard scene would have been the first to go if that was the case, but we'll have to get confirmation on that.

I took to mean that he was saying those who responded positively to the film were not actual movie critics. Or if they were, they weren't very notable.

Well at least two of the guys who did like it are critics and writers, so again, what does it matter if they're big names or not? There are plenty of critics opinions I read and I don't always know who these cats are but I read it just to gather opinions. It's professional courtesy not to dump on people in your profession just because they disagree with a sentiment you have or have wanted to have since jump street.
