The Amazing Spider-Man: The Game

For the record (it won't make any difference) I disliked Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man. Looked the part, but his voice was completely wrong (not that he could help it)

Well, if they couldn't simply break out of it, all players would be doing is shoot their webs, end the fights in seconds and get bored. I admit that it's stupid, but from a gaming point it would make fights way too easy.

Normal thugs aren't a challenge to Spider-Man in the comics, movies, animated series, et cetera, and I think they shouldn't be in the games, if they are going to make the player feel like they truly are Spider-Man.
Furthermore, in this game, webbing is scarce, which would discourage such tactics.

Yeah, it's the dodging of webs that pissed me off in SM2.

Me too. That made combat so repetitive by the time you complete the story mode as you had to spam Impact Web constantly before you could do anything to thugs.

Or dodge and counter

Which still wasn't all that fun. I don't wanna have to do a web shot or a counter too even be able to hit a purse snatcher. It's lame. I don't care if Spidey's a little overpowered, he should be. Make him more vulnerable to guns instead.

Agreed.

As iv said before, Batmans free flow combat would be perfect for Spidey. It could even be better due to spideys unnatural agility and speed.

They've already done that before with the fighting mechanics in Ultimate Spider-Man, and it wasn't very good.

I like to have more control over Spidey's movements than just one attack button that does all the fighting for you. Spider-Man doesn't have a bunch of gadgets either to change things up. I want control over how to web people and what I get to do with them once they're tied up or on the end of my webline, like in SM2. SM2's fighting system was actually really well done once you got good at it. WoS had pretty much the best fighting system of any Spidey game.

They evade too much, that's sad, so I agree with you here

Kinda  combination, annoying in something is bleh but a bit annoying in something else is alright

Or as Nathan said, mix of this and USM attack style. He also agrees with me about taking some of the best stuff in combat from several games and said it openly here

I like it, it's smooth and good, wall bounce attacks are awesome. If they upgraded that to make Spidey bounce between several thugs and be able to web tie them in that move with steady camera, magnificent

Plus reflexes, they work for things other than fighting

I still wish they mixed the best of Harry's from SM3 fight with Vultures fight in WoS, web zip attack to be one (but not too often needed to be used), taking the fight almost everywhere in the city you can enter in free roam, and being able to swing a webline to him like in the cartoons and comics:awesome:

I agree! Just look at Catwoman in AC. Very agile in a similar way to how Spider-Man could fight.

I.

No, the free flow was much better in Arkham City than it was in USM, it could be easily transferred and tweaked to apply to Spidey. USMs combat was light years better than WoS any way.

At least it's better in giving more use of Spider-Man's fist to fist and bouncing skills on the ground

Spidey could DEFINITELY be freeflow. I was playing AC as Catwoman, and there was this awesome context sensitive attack because I was near a wall, where she suddenly leapt and clung onto the wall, then flipped backwards over a dude and kicked him into the wall. It was SO damn Spidey! Hell, the Batman 'counterattack' warning symbol even LOOKS like a Spider-Sense, it would be totally appropriate and work for spidey.

Yeah, lol, loved that about the fights in AA watching the spider-sense sign on the enemies heads you need to counter
I'm yet to play AC

I mentioned this over in the Spidey boards, but I want to see Spot as a villain this game. He'd have an awesome boss fight.

Free flow is definitely the way to go for Spidey. Just combine USM's combat with Arkham City's and call it a day.

I've been saying Spot is a potentially world level threat, since his appearance in the 90's TAS.

I could say "Click my sig and read my fanfic" but it'd be quicker to just tell you some of things Spot does in the story. With a little tweak to his powers, Spot could open a portal to the vacuum of space, the middle of an ocean or the magma chamber of a volcano. His portals could do so much more than just give him something to pop in and out of. The edges of the portals, should the portal be mobile, could become dimensionally unstable and vapourise anything they touch. It'd be like Krillin/Frieza's energy discs from DBZ.

And Spot's "joke villain" status is the perfect drive for him to achieve notoriety.

Yep, i agree. It really would be the best system for him.

I really dont know why they wouldn't. I mean if i was a dev thats what i would do and if asked about the similarities between this and AC, id say exactly, thats where we got it from. Its a great system there and works beautifully here.

And you might get your ass sued into oblivion.

So the makers of the Captain America game got sued into oblivion? What?

Just say it's his style of fighting in comics, freeflow acrobatic and bouncing

Initially I thought to agree with Godzilla, but everyone copies another one is one thing or more, huge or small

No suit

You can't sue for something like that, it's ridiculous. Did Epic games sue anyone for being inspired by their cover system in Gears of war? Did Bungie sue anyone for using regen health systems in FPS games?

That's simply ludicrous.
