The Amazing Spider-Man v.2 - Part 2

No way, Carlie needs to go the way of Poochie. I firmly stick to that belief.

Ha ha, I hear you, hippie. I particularly enjoyed your Michael Scott clip! :funny:

I'm just saying, someone on the inside of the police force who was an EX-girlfriend could be interesting. And that is something I think Carlie has not been.

I'm really really curious to see how the general public will react to a certain Mr. Brock from now on. Neeeyarrgh, when is issue 9 coming out?

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the new status quo for Brock! Really interested in where that goes as well!

I'm more along the lines of this song:

LOL! I originally was considering using that very song! :woot:

I know, I know. But we can't always have everything we want. :cwink:

If he's gonna be mentoring a secret government operative, why would the public react to him in any way?

Carlie Cooper is forever tainted to be a horrible character by her sheer boringness. She has replaced Sally Floyd as my most hated comic book character. When you surpass the lady who made me feel sorry for Henry Peter Gyrich, you have a problem.

Just go away Carlie Cooper. Go away and never return.

Just dropping by this thread to vent my hatred of the ASM artwork these days. I haven't bought it in years since the ******ed OMD thing, but I'd still read some review copies for the site I review for or read a friend's every once in a while to see if it had gotten any better, but nowadays I honestly can't get myself to get through more than a page or two. If I never saw another picture from Ramos I'd be happy.

There, venting is done :)

Good question :) spoilers follow
In the book, Reed Richards of all people has his arm around Brock's shoulder in a buddy-esque way and flat out says the day was saved because of Brock's efforts and sacrifice. This wasn't an uncomfortable and coerced photo-op. Even Aunt May reacts in a positive way. Something like that is going to get him notice and have people talking. For years he was the public monster and after some time, people in the general audience could put a name to a face of the monster after increased exposure and incidents. Venom wasn't "that creature" but rather a man mixed with an alien. A man who would be known widely to authorities and other key players in the MU.

So he was this hunted man, and then only after being completely abandoned by ol' symby did he get a sizable public trial with Matt Murdock defending him and getting him cleared of all charges he ever faced as Venom. He then become Anti-Venom, but I'm sure most of the public isn't too in the know that he's Brock or the extent of his identity. After all this Brock is now declared the hero of New York. The guy who saved ALL non powered New Yorkers from a lifetime of spider-age.

People for years have seen him as scum and he was treated as such. He got a small, but paradoxically huge win when he was deemed right in the Mr. Negative case and got props from Pete. Now he cured New York of a threat the great Mr. Fantastic couldn't solve. Granted Pete did the hard distribution work, but I'm talking about things from the public's perspective and the story they're being fed.

I'm just wondering if kids are going to be running around in Eddie Brock shirts or if he'll somehow become a poster boy for something big and great, kind of like how the American Son was being paraded around as a great new step (I think that's what happened. I didn't read the book but heard murmurings. I can't remember for sure if he was used as a propaganda piece by Normy). Maybe a poster boy for redemption and used to promote the Thunderbolts program and inspired copycat programs? I dunno, but I think this could be a rather interesting step. The Project Rebirth stuff is huge, but going to be a secret probably, but the public eye stuff has me wondering if Eddie will be a little celeb and all.

Long winded, sorry heh. I think I may have gotten side tracked, but I think this is a really interesting step that's been adding on to the, in my opinion, recent great building up of Brock.

It's funny, a while back, I said I'd love Anti-Venom to prove himself truly reformed and good by curing all the affected civilians in a huge event, and while he didn't single handedly save the day, he got to do a major service without killing a single person. I got my wish, and while it may (temporarily) cost us Anti Venom, I'm happy with this. For a long time, Brock's just been about the suit. I think it'd be interesting to see him continue his journey as a man and see what he can learn and where he can grow.

Oh yea, and bring back Jenna! I wanna see what you'll do with her Mr. Remender! :woot:

Zounds I type a lot. :wow:

Overall, a fantastic issue and what an awesome conclusion. I really
can't wait to see where Ben and Kaine go from here on out. Btw, what SLott did with Eddie was perfect, IMO. Same for MJ.

I'll write a full review later, but my god this was great!

Interesting. Did not know most of that. That's kind of an interesting spin on the theme of Brock being the anti-Spider-Man, with Brock being the media darling to Spider-Man's perpetual media scapegoat.

Honestly Peter didn't deserve since he got burned to hell in the last relationship.(yes I accept OMIT as what really happened because the alternative is ****e). I don't think MJ and Pete will get back together because that violates the rule from that event. He can't have MJ and have his aunt at the same time.

But seriously Ms Marvel is the only girl for Peter.

Actually, I think he can have them both, I think Mephisto just wanted their marriage.

According to OMIT itself OMIT never happened therefore Pete can do whatever he wants so your entire rationalization is nonsense (mainly because it's based on OMIT which itself is absolute nonsense).

Here's an idea. Look at the solicit for Amazing Spider-Man #675:

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #675
Written by DAN SLOTT
Pencils & Cover by GIUSEPPE CAMUNCOLI
GIUSEPPE CAMUNCOLI joins the regular Spidey artist rotation in this high flying free falling ride through Dan Slott’s post Spider-Island world. The VULTURE IS BACK and making kids do his high flying dirty work for him. With Spidey back on the cops’ bad side will he be able to stop this flying Fagan from twisting young runaways before another boy falls from the sky?
So what if that means Carlie essentially becomes akin to another J. Jonah Jameson? Not a straight-up super-villain, but an antagonist who makes Spidey's life a living hell, in this case with a whole "hell hath no fury like a woman scorned" angle. Of course the solicit for the preceding issue also states the following:

THE VULTURE RETURNS! It's a brave new city! As the costs of Spider-Island continue to rise, Spidey’s first enemy returns! High-rise robberies and teenaged jumpers force Spidey into a high flying new adventure…with a less than friendly partner.
That sounds like it could very well be Carlie, doesn't it?

So is Carlie the new Jean DeWolff except she hates Spidey/Pete. Wonder if she's gonna keep the tat?

Well, taken into account the size of the tattoo she has, and that the cost of removal depends upon the square-inch, and also may require multiple treatments to get it remove, she could be looking at what? Something around $2,000 dollars or more total to get it removed? And remember, she is on a cop's salary. :oldrazz:

She can just remove it with the sheer power of her self-righteous *****iness. :o

Can I just get in on the ''THANK GOD PRAISE JESUS HALLELUJAH" vehicle that finally that little borefest is out of Peter's life as a romantic possibility? AMEN?!

Amen from the congregation of Pastor Brock. :woot:

Also, nice av dude. I`ve never read Guardians but RR looks awesome in UMVC3.

Uhhh...f*^& Holier-than-thou Brock. Go back to New Ways to Live Brock.

And wouldn't Captain Watanabe be the new Jean DeWolfe?

No because Jean had somewhat of a relationship with Spidey. It was only until after she died, he found out she was practically in love with him.

But Captain Watanabe interacted with Spidey as the new Wraith... so there could be some building blocks there... especially considering that it was Carlie who talked her out of keeping that identity...

There's your police women/Spider-Man triangle... :wow:

:yay:
